Journal ArticleDOI

Buildup of polyelectrolyte-protein multilayer assemblies on gold electrodes. Role of the hydrophobic effect.

TL;DR: The buildup of layer-by-layer assemblies onto gold surfaces from water-soluble charged polyelectrolytes and proteins is examined using quartz crystal microgravimetry (QCM) and electrochemical techniques, suggesting that several types of interactions, especially the hydrophobic effect, are involved in the buildup process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Current—potential responses for a tetrahemic protein: a method of determining the individual half-wave potentials of cytochrome c3 from desulfovibrio desulfuricans strain Norway

TL;DR: A tetrahemic protein, cytochrome c 3 from Desulfovibrio desulfuricans strain Norway, was studied by differential pulse polarography and linear sweep voltammetry at hanging mercury electrode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical behavior of c-type cytochromes at clay-modified carbon electrodes: a model for the interaction between proteins and soils

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that while electrostatic interactions are responsible for the electrochemical promotion of cytochrome c, hydrophobic factors play a key role in the electron transfer process on multiheme cytochromes at clay-modified electrodes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogenase Activity Control at Desulfovibrio vulgaris Cell‐Coated Carbon Electrodes: Biochemical and Chemical Factors Influencing the Mediated Bioelectrocatalysis

TL;DR: High cathodic and anodic catalytic currents have been obtained using methyl viologen as a mediator, which are reflecting hydrogenase activity inside the bacterial cell, in the production and uptake of hydrogen, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correlations studies between structural and redox properties of cytochromes C3

TL;DR: Individual redox potential values are determined for different cytochromes c3, characterized by only one marked reduction step, and relations between potential values and structural data are discussed.
