Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of polybrominated diphenyl ethers in sediments of the Pearl River Delta and adjacent South China Sea.
Bi-Xian Mai,She-Jun Chen,Xiao-Jun Luo,Laiguo Chen,Qingshu Yang,Guoying Sheng,Ping'an Peng,Jiamo Fu,Eddy Y. Zeng +8 more
TL;DR: Analyses of two short sediment cores collected from the Pearl River Estuary showed that concentrations of BDE-209 rapidly increased in the upper layers of both cores, coincident with the growth of the electronics manufacturing capacities in the PRD region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of organic matter heterogeneity on sorption and desorption of organic contaminants by soils and sediments
TL;DR: A recent review as mentioned in this paper highlights the major progress over the last decade on characterization of geochemically heterogeneous soil/sediment organic matter (SOM) and the impacts of SOM heterogeneity on sorption and desorption of hydrophobic organic contaminants (HOCs) under equilibrium and rate limiting conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent organic pollutants in environment of the Pearl River Delta, China: an overview
Jiamo Fu,Bi-Xian Mai,Guoying Sheng,Gan Zhang,Xinming Wang,Ping'an Peng,Xianming Xiao,Rong Ran,Fanzhong Cheng,Xianzhi Peng,Zhishi Wang,U Wa Tang +11 more
TL;DR: The data preliminarily reveal the state of contamination in this region and give insight into the fate of POPs in this sub-tropical area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Severe PCDD/F and PBDD/F Pollution in Air around an Electronic Waste Dismantling Area in China
TL;DR: It is shown that residents in Guiyu are at a high risk of exposure to dioxins and the total PCDD/F intake doses far exceed the WHO 1998 tolerable daily intake limit of 1-4 pg of W-TEQ kg(-1) day(-1).
Journal ArticleDOI
Source identification of eight hazardous heavy metals in agricultural soils of Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China.
Li-mei Cai,Zhencheng Xu,Zhencheng Xu,Mingzhong Ren,Qingwei Guo,Xibang Hu,Xibang Hu,Guocheng Hu,Hongfu Wan,Ping'an Peng +9 more
TL;DR: Compared to the soil background contents in Guangdong Province, the mean concentrations of Hg, Cd, Zn, Pb and As in soil of Huizhou are higher, especially Hg andCd, which are 2.82 and 1.79 times the background values, respectively.
