Effect of Cadmium Stress on the Growth, Antioxidative Enzymes and Lipid Peroxidation in Two Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) Plant Seedlings
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of cadmium stress on the growth, antioxidative enzymes and lipid peroxidation in two kenaf plants, Fuhong 991 and ZM412, were analyzed under control (0.5-strength Hoagland's nutrient solution) or five levels of Cadmium-induced stress (different concentrations of Cd2+).
Journal ArticleDOI
Selection of reliable reference genes for quantitative real-time PCR gene expression analysis in Jute (Corchorus capsularis) under stress treatments.
TL;DR: The results provide researchers with appropriate reference genes for qRT-PCR in C. capsularis, and will facilitate gene expression study under these conditions, and the comprehensive rankings of gene stability were generated by aggregate analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The CCoAOMT1 gene from jute (Corchorus capsularis L.) is involved in lignin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana.
Gaoyang Zhang,Yujia Zhang,Jiantang Xu,Xiaoping Niu,Jianmin Qi,Aifen Tao,Liwu Zhang,Pingping Fang,Lihui Lin,Jianguang Su +9 more
TL;DR: The over-expression of CcCCoAOMT1 in these transgenic A.thaliana plants resulted in increased plant height and silique length relative to non-transgenic plants, and the most important finding was that the transgenic Arabidopsis plants contained more lignin than did control plants, clearly suggesting an important role of this gene in lignIn biosynthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The genome of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) provides insights into bast fibre and leaf shape biogenesis.
Liwu Zhang,Yi Xu,Xingtan Zhang,Xiaokai Ma,Lilan Zhang,Zhenyang Liao,Qing Zhang,Xuebei Wan,Yan Cheng,Jisen Zhang,Dongxu Li,Liemei Zhang,Jiantang Xu,Aifen Tao,Lihui Lin,Pingping Fang,Shuai Chen,Rui Qi,Xiuming Xu,Jianmin Qi,Ray Ming,Ray Ming +21 more
TL;DR: This chromosome‐scale genome provides an important framework and toolkit for sequence‐directed genetic improvement of fibre crops, suggesting domestication and improvement process have led to an increase in fibre biogenesis and yield.
Journal ArticleDOI
De novo transcriptome sequence and identification of major bast-related genes involved in cellulose biosynthesis in jute (Corchorus capsularis L.)
TL;DR: The transcriptome of jute is characterized, a broad survey of unigenes associated with vegetative growth and development is discovered, large-scale SNPs are developed, and the expression patterns of genes involved in cellulose biosynthesis for bast fiber are analyzed.
