Journal ArticleDOI
DNA binding and cleavage behaviors of copper(II) complexes with amidino-O-methylurea and N-methylphenyl-amidino-O-methylurea, and their antibacterial activities
Unchulee Chaveerach,Atittaya Meenongwa,Yanee Trongpanich,Chaiyaporn Soikum,Prapansak Chaveerach +4 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the two designed copper(II) complexes can bind to DNA by non-intercalative modes and exhibit nuclease activities in which supercoiled plasmid DNA is converted to the linear form.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution and Genetic Profiles of Campylobacter in Commercial Broiler Production from Breeder to Slaughter in Thailand.
Sakaoporn Prachantasena,Petcharatt Charununtakorn,Suthida Muangnoicharoen,Luck Hankla,Natthaporn Techawal,Prapansak Chaveerach,Pravate Tuitemwong,Nipa Chokesajjawatee,Nicola J. Williams,Tom J. Humphrey,Taradon Luangtongkum +10 more
TL;DR: Genotypic identification of C. jejuni in slaughterhouses indicated that broilers were the main source of Campylobacter contamination of chicken meat during processing, and control and prevention strategies should be aimed at both farm and slaughterhouse levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA-interacting and biological properties of copper(II) complexes from amidino-O-methylurea
Atittaya Meenongwa,Atittaya Meenongwa,Rosa F. Brissos,Chaiyaporn Soikum,Prapansak Chaveerach,Patrick Gamez,Patrick Gamez,Yanee Trongpanich,Unchulee Chaveerach +8 more
TL;DR: The interaction of two copper(II) complexes with DNA has been thoroughly investigated using different characterization techniques, including electronic absorption spectroscopy, viscosity measurements, fluorescence spectrograms, circular dichroism spectrograph, thermal denaturation, stoichiometric determination, gel electrophoresis and atomic-force microscopy as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of N,N-heterocyclic ligands on the in vitro cytotoxicity and DNA interactions of copper(II) chloride complexes from amidino-O-methylurea ligands
Atittaya Meenongwa,Rosa F. Brissos,Chaiyaporn Soikum,Prapansak Chaveerach,Patrick Gamez,Patrick Gamez,Yanee Trongpanich,Unchulee Chaveerach +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, four new copper(II) complexes based on guanidine derivatives have been synthesized by the addition of N,N-heterocyclic ligands, yielding four new compounds, [Cu(L1)(bipy)]Cl2 (1), [Cu[L1]-Cl2(2), [Chen et al. ]Cl2[Chen and Chen]Cl2] (3) and [Cu
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial Activity of Thai-herbal Plants against Food-borne Pathogens E. Coli, S. Aureus and C. Jejuni☆
TL;DR: The results indicated that Thai-herbs have potent antimicrobial activity against E. coli, S. aureus and C. jejuni, which were isolated from the chicken-caecum and other herbal plants also had antimacterial activity against the three food-borne pathogens in this study.
