Journal ArticleDOI
Updated classification of norovirus genogroups and genotypes
Preeti Chhabra,Miranda de Graaf,Gabriel I. Parra,Martin C.W. Chan,Kim Y. Green,Vito Martella,Qiuhong Wang,Peter A. White,Kazuhiko Katayama,Harry Vennema,Marion Koopmans,Jan Vinjé +11 more
TL;DR: Viruses for which currently only one sequence is available in public databases were classified into tentative new genogroups and genotypes with their definitive assignment awaiting additional related sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic and Epidemiologic Trends of Norovirus Outbreaks in the United States from 2013 to 2016 Demonstrated Emergence of Novel GII.4 Recombinant Viruses.
Jennifer L. Cannon,Leslie Barclay,Nikail Collins,Mary E Wikswo,Christina J. Castro,Laura Cristal Magaña,Nicole Gregoricus,Rachel L. Marine,Preeti Chhabra,Jan Vinjé +9 more
TL;DR: Acquisition of alternative RNA polymerases by recombination is an important mechanism for norovirus evolution and a phenomenon that was shown to occur more frequently than previously recognized in the United States.
Journal ArticleDOI
Etiology of viral gastroenteritis in children <5 years of age in the United States, 2008-2009.
Preeti Chhabra,Daniel C. Payne,Peter G. Szilagyi,Kathryn M. Edwards,Mary Allen Staat,S. Hannah Shirley,Mary E Wikswo,W. Allan Nix,Xiaoyan Lu,Umesh D. Parashar,Jan Vinjé +10 more
TL;DR: No causal role for parechovirus and bocavirus was found in children <5 years of age who had medical visits for AGE and tested negative for rotavirus and norovirus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of three multiplex gastrointestinal platforms for the detection of gastroenteritis viruses.
Preeti Chhabra,Nicole Gregoricus,Geoffrey A. Weinberg,Natasha B. Halasa,James D. Chappell,Ferdaus Hassan,Rangaraj Selvarangan,Slavica Mijatovic-Rustempasic,M Leanne Ward,Michael D. Bowen,Daniel C. Payne,Jan Vinjé +11 more
TL;DR: The FilmArray demonstrated the best analytical performance followed by TAC, and the availability of multi-enteric molecular testing platforms has increased significantly and the data highlight the strengths and weaknesses of these platforms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Swab Sampling Method for the Detection of Human Norovirus on Surfaces.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed and evaluated a protocol using macrofoam swabs for the detection and typing of human norovirus from hard surfaces, such as toilet seat surfaces of up to 700 cm2.
