Tumor Evasion of the Immune System by Converting CD4+CD25− T Cells into CD4+CD25+ T Regulatory Cells: Role of Tumor-Derived TGF-β
Victoria Liu,Larry Wong,Thomas L. Jang,Ali H. Shah,Irwin Park,Ximing J. Yang,Qiang Zhang,Scott Lonning,Beverly A. Teicher,Chung Lee +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that tumor cells directly convert CD4+CD25− T cells to Treg cells through production of high levels of TGF-β, suggesting a possible mechanism through which tumor cells evade the immune system.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of circulation patterns on regional transport pathways and air quality over Beijing and its surroundings
Jingxu Zhang,Tong Zhu,Qiang Zhang,Chengcai Li,H. L. Shu,Yue Ying,Z. P. Dai,Xiang Wang,Xingang Liu,A. M. Liang,H. X. Shen,Bingqi Yi +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the air pollution characteristics of synoptic-scale circulation in the Beijing megacity, and provided quantitative evaluation of the impacts of circulation patterns on air quality during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adoptive Transfer of Tumor-Reactive Transforming Growth Factor-β–Insensitive CD8+ T Cells: Eradication of Autologous Mouse Prostate Cancer
Qiang Zhang,Ximing J. Yang,Michael R. Pins,Borko Javonovic,Timothy M. Kuzel,Seong-Jin Kim,Luk Van Parijs,Norman M. Greenberg,Victoria Liu,Yinglu Guo,Chung Lee +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that adoptive transfer of tumor-reactive TGF-beta-insensitive CD8+ T cells may warrant consideration for cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The challenge of improving visibility in Beijing
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper focused on the temporal variation of visibility and its dependence on meteorological conditions and suspended particles at Beijing using the hourly observed visibility data at Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) from 1999 to 2007.
Journal ArticleDOI
The toll-like receptor pathway: A novel mechanism of infection-induced carcinogenesis of prostate epithelial cells
Shilajit Kundu,Chung Lee,Benjamin K. Billips,Geoffrey M. Habermacher,Qiang Zhang,Victoria Liu,Larry Wong,David J. Klumpp,Praveen Thumbikat +8 more
TL;DR: Components of bacteria and viruses have been identified within pathological specimens of men with prostate cancer as well as within healthy men without prostate cancer.
