Stress control on polymeric outdoor insulators using Zinc oxide microvaristor composites
TL;DR: In this paper, an approach to high field control, particularly in the areas near the high voltage (HV) and ground terminals of an outdoor insulator, is proposed using a nonlinear grading material; Zinc Oxide (ZnO) microvaristors compounded with other polymeric materials to obtain the required properties and allow easy application.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Leakage Current Components as a Diagnostic Tool to Estimate Contamination Level on High Voltage Insulators
TL;DR: The present study shows the possibility of utilizing the value of strange harmonics up to the 7th component of leakage current as the parameter for the monitoring of leakageCurrent in overhead insulators in the presence of contamination.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk Assessment of Polluted Glass Insulator Using Leakage Current Index Under Different Operating Conditions
Ali. A. Salem,R. Abd-Rahman,Samir A. Al-Gailani,Zainal Salam,M. S. Kamarudin,Hidayat Zainuddin,Mohd Fairouz Mohd Yousof +6 more
TL;DR: It was found that the insulator profile has significant influences on the likelihood of flashover which is estimated as 38% and 24% for type A and B insulators, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pollution Flashover Under Different Contamination Profiles on High Voltage Insulator: Numerical and Experiment Investigation
Ali. A. Salem,R. Abd-Rahman,Wan Rahiman,Samir A. Al-Gailani,S. Al-Ameri,Mohd Taufiq Ishak,Usman Ullah Sheikh +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of contamination profiles and humidity on flashover electrical characteristics of polluted insulators was studied, and it was observed from experimental results that the flashover voltage gradient under different contamination profiles has different values depending on the location and dimension of the pollution region.
