Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of reactive oxygen species, DNA damage, and c-Myc function by peroxiredoxin 1.
Rachel A. Egler,Elaine Fernandes,Kristi Rothermund,Susan M. Sereika,Nadja de Souza-Pinto,Pawel Jaruga,Pawel Jaruga,Miral Dizdaroglu,Edward V. Prochownik,Edward V. Prochownik +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that increased DNA damage and tumor susceptibility in prdx1−/− animals results from this shift in intracellular ROS, which should be useful in studying the role of oxidative DNA damage in the causation of cancer and its prevention by antioxidants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surveillance After Initial Surgery for Pediatric and Adolescent Girls With Stage I Ovarian Germ Cell Tumors: Report From the Children's Oncology Group
Deborah F. Billmire,John W. Cullen,Frederick J. Rescorla,Mary Davis,Marc G. Schlatter,Thomas A. Olson,Marcio H. Malogolowkin,Farzana Pashankar,Doojduen Villaluna,Mark Krailo,Rachel A. Egler,Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo,A. Lindsay Frazier +12 more
TL;DR: Fifty percent of patients with stage I pediatric MOGCT can be spared chemotherapy; treatment for those who experience recurrence preserves OS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Successful hematopoietic cell transplantation in a patient with X-linked agammaglobulinemia and acute myeloid leukemia.
Rolla Abu-Arja,Leah Chernin,Ghada Abusin,Jeffery J. Auletta,Linda Cabral,Rachel A. Egler,Hans D. Ochs,Troy R. Torgerson,Jesus M. Lopez-Guisa,Robert Hostoffer,Haig Tcheurekdjian,Kenneth R. Cooke +11 more
TL;DR: The first reported case of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in a patient with XLA is presented and the complete correction of the XLA phenotype is demonstrated following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation for treatment of the patient's leukemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surveillance after initial surgery for Stage i pediatric and adolescent boys with malignant testicular germ cell tumors: Report from the Children's Oncology Group
Frederick J. Rescorla,Jonathan H. Ross,Deborah F. Billmire,Bryan Dicken,Doojduen Villaluna,Mary Davis,Mark Krailo,John W. Cullen,Thomas A. Olson,Rachel A. Egler,James F. Amatruda,Carlos Rodrigues-Galindo,A. Lindsey Frazier +12 more
TL;DR: Age greater than 10 years, mixed histology and presence of LVI are each associated with relapse and may allow identification of high risk boys at time of enrollment in boys with Stage I malignant testicular germ cell tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reduced and Compressed Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy in Children and Adolescents With Intermediate-Risk Extracranial Malignant Germ Cell Tumors: A Report From the Children's Oncology Group.
Furqan Shaikh,John W. Cullen,Thomas A. Olson,Farzana Pashankar,Marcio H. Malogolowkin,James F. Amatruda,Doojduen Villaluna,Mark Krailo,Deborah F. Billmire,Frederick J. Rescorla,Rachel A. Egler,Bryan Dicken,Jonathan H. Ross,Marc Schlatter,Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo,A. Lindsay Frazier +15 more
TL;DR: The EFS rate for children with IR MGCT observed after three cycles of PEb was less than that of a prespecified parametric model, particularly for patients with higher-stage tumors.
