Immobilization of highly monodispersed palladium nanoparticles in colloidal mesoporous silica supports has been successfully achieved. The Pd nanoparticles with a uniform small size of ∼1.2 nm can be homogeneously distributed in individual mesopore channels of amino group-functionalized three-dimensional dendritic mesoporous silica nanospheres (3D-dendritic MSNSs) with a Pd content of ∼2.8%. The 3D-dendritic MSNSs-based nanoreactors show high activity in Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of bromobenzene with phenylboronic acid, obtaining a yield over 99% with 0.075 mol % Pd catalyst at room temperature in the dark within 12 h. More importantly, the excellent catalytic performance can be maintained with a negligible decrease lasting at least six cycles. Ultradispersed Palladium Nanoparticles in Three-Dimensional Dendritic Mesoporous Silica Nanospheres: Toward Active and Stable Heterogeneous Catalysts

We have applied in situ monitoring of mechanochemical reactions by high-energy synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction to study the role of liquid additives on the mechanochemical synthesis of the archetypal metal–organic framework (MOF) HKUST-1, which was one of the first and is still among the most widely investigated MOF materials to be synthesized by solvent-free procedures It is shown here how the kinetics and mechanisms of the mechanochemical synthesis of HKUST-1 can be influenced by milling conditions and additives, yielding on occasion two new and previously undetected intermediate phases containing a mononuclear copper core, and that finally rearrange to form the HKUST-1 architecture On the basis of in situ data, we were able to tune and direct the milling reactions toward the formation of these intermediates, which were isolated and characterized by spectroscopic and structural means and their magnetic properties compared to those of HKUST-1 The results have shown that despite the relatively lar

Mechanistic insights into the hydroconversion of cinnamaldehyde using mechanochemically-synthesized Pd/Al-SBA-15 catalysts

Selected Pt/WO3-ZrO2 catalysts, promoted by Al, Si and Fe metal ions and isomorphously substituted into the zirconia framework, were studied and compared with their undoped equivalents as catalysts for C7 isomerization. They were characterized by XRD, UV–vis and TPD-TPR techniques. A mechanism was proposed for the positive dopant effect on the catalyst activity.

Impact of dopant metal ions in the framework of parent zirconia on the n-heptane isomerization activity of the Pt/WO3-ZrO2 catalysts

Many authors have published much information about the isomerization of paraffins C5–C6 using Pt/WO3–ZrO2 materials. Nevertheless, only model feedstocks have been used. An active catalyst was developed with the aim of isomerising industrial feedstocks. This material presented stable activity during the reaction with an increase of the R.O.N. of 14 at 225 °C. The material is the first real candidate for a tungstated zirconia to be used in industry to isomerise light paraffins.
