Journal ArticleDOI
A soft, wearable microfluidic device for the capture, storage, and colorimetric sensing of sweat
Ahyeon Koh,Daeshik Kang,Daeshik Kang,Yeguang Xue,Seungmin Lee,Rafal M. Pielak,Jeonghyun Kim,Jeonghyun Kim,Taehwan Hwang,Seunghwan Min,Anthony Banks,Philippe Bastien,Megan Manco,Liang Wang,Liang Wang,Kaitlyn R. Ammann,Kyung In Jang,Phillip Won,Seungyong Han,Roozbeh Ghaffari,Ungyu Paik,Marvin J. Slepian,Guive Balooch,Yonggang Huang,John A. Rogers +24 more
TL;DR: A flexible microfluidic device that adheres to human skin that collects and analyzes sweat during exercise and could be used during athletic or military training and adapted to test other bodily fluids such as tears or saliva is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of drug inhibition and drug resistance of influenza A M2 channel.
TL;DR: Structural and functional experiments on the mechanism of drug inhibition and resistance of the S31N drug-resistant mutant of M2, a mutant of the highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1, show that replacing Ser-31 with Asn has little effect on the structure of the channel pore, but dramatically reduces drug binding to the allosteric site.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epidermal devices for noninvasive, precise, and continuous mapping of macrovascular and microvascular blood flow
R. Chad Webb,Yinji Ma,Yinji Ma,Siddharth Krishnan,Yuhang Li,Yuhang Li,Stephen Yoon,Xiaogang Guo,Xiaogang Guo,Xue Feng,Yan Shi,Yan Shi,Miles Seidel,Nam Heon Cho,Jonas Kurniawan,James Ahad,Niral Sheth,Joseph Kim,James G. Taylor Vi,Tom Darlington,Ken Chang,Weizhong Huang,Joshua Ayers,Alexander Gruebele,Rafal M. Pielak,Marvin J. Slepian,Yonggang Huang,Alexander M. Gorbach,John A. Rogers +28 more
TL;DR: This work introduces an ultrathin, soft, skin-conforming sensor technology that offers advanced capabilities in continuous and precise blood flow mapping and establishes a set of experimental procedures and theoretical models for quantitative measurements and guidelines in design and operation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influenza M2 proton channels.
Rafal M. Pielak,James J. Chou +1 more
TL;DR: This review summarizes the current understanding of how protons are conducted through the M2 channel from a structural point of view, as well as the modes by which important channel gating elements function during proton conduction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct single molecule measurement of TCR triggering by agonist pMHC in living primary T cells
Geoff P. O’Donoghue,Geoff P. O’Donoghue,Rafal M. Pielak,Rafal M. Pielak,Alexander A. Smoligovets,Alexander A. Smoligovets,Jenny J. Lin,Jenny J. Lin,Jay T. Groves,Jay T. Groves +9 more
TL;DR: Single molecule measurements of the pM HC:TCR:ZAP70 complex indicate that TCR triggering is stoichiometric with agonist pMHC in a 1:1 ratio, which means any signal amplification must occur downstream of T CR triggering.
