Journal ArticleDOI

Helical-chain copper(II) complexes and a cyclic tetranuclear copper(II) complex with single syn-anti carboxylate bridges and ferromagnetic exchange interactions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the tridentate Schiff-base carboxylate-containing ligands, derived from the condensation of 2-imidazolecarboxaldehyde with the amino acids β-alanine (H2L1) and 2-aminobenzoic acid (H 2L5), react with copper(II) perchlorate to give rise to the helical-chain complexes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Are methyl groups electron-donating or electron-withdrawing in boron clusters? Permethylation of o-carborane.

TL;DR: At the B3LYP/6-31G* level of theory, it has been proven that the Mulliken charge on each boron after substitution of -H by -Me increases by +0.18 unit, which leads to a high build-up of positive charge upon permethylation, then hampering it.
Journal ArticleDOI

Singly anti-anti carboxylate-bridged zig-zag chain complexes from a carboxylate-containing tridentate schiff base ligand and m(hfac)2 m = mnii, niii, and cuii : synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetic properties

TL;DR: In this article, the structure of the tridentate Schiff base H2L was solved by X-ray crystallographic methods and the magnetic properties of the three complexes were studied by susceptibility measurements as a function of the temperature and successfully analyzed in terms of the isotropic spin Hamiltonian.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural and magnetic studies of a syn-anti carboxylate-bridged helix-like chain copper(II) complex

Abstract: The preparation, magnetic properties, and crystal and molecular structure of [CuL(H 2 O)] n are described (L stands for the doubly deprotonated form of 1,3-dimethyl-5-((2-carboxyphenyl)azo)barbituric acid). The crystals are orthorhombic, of space group P2 1 2 121 , with cell constants a=8.171 (1) A, b=10.302 (3) A, c=17.006 (5) A, and Z=4. The structure was solved and refined to R=0.052. The copper(II) ions are in a distorted square-pyramidal environment
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and magnetic properties of a syn-anti carboxylate bridged linear trinuclear copper(II) complex with ferromagnetic exchange interaction

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties for the trinuclear compound [Cu(H2O)4{Cu(HL)(H 2O)(ClO4)]2]2·2H 2 O, where HL is the monodeprotonated form of 6-methylamino-1,3-dimethyl-5-[(2′-carboxyphenyl)azo]uracil, were reported.
