Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal variability of particle flux in the Weddell Sea and its relation to ice cover

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-year sediment trap was deployed in the Weddell Sea, where the annual particle flux measured was the smallest yet observed in the world ocean, and showed extreme variability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal particle flux in the Bransfield Strait, Antartica

TL;DR: In this article, time-series sediment traps were deployed at 494 and 1588 m water depth in Bransfield Strait from 1 December, 1983 to 25 November, 1984.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sedimentation of biogenic siliceous particles in Antarctic waters from the Atlantic sector

TL;DR: Sediment traps were deployed in the Drake Passage, Bransfield Strait and west of South Orkney Islands (Powell Basin) during December 1980/ January 1981, December 1983, and between March and December 1983.
Journal ArticleDOI

Overview of Glacial Atlantic Ocean Mapping (GLAMAP 2000)

TL;DR: GLAMAP 2000 as discussed by the authors reconstructs the Atlantic's sea surface temperatures at the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), defined at both 21,500-18,000 years B.P.
Book ChapterDOI

Clay Mineral Fluctuations in Late Quaternary Sediments of the Southeastern South Atlantic: Implications for Past Changes of Deep Water Advection

TL;DR: In this article, the downcore clay mineral fluctuations in Late Quaternary sediment cores from the southeastern South Atlantic and adjoining Southern Ocean are of low amplitude, and small-scale variations, particularly of clay mineral ratios, essentially monitor cyclic changes of deep water advection in response to climatic oscillations.
