Curcumin for malaria therapy.
Raju C. Reddy,Palakkodu G. Vatsala,Venkateshwar G. Keshamouni,Govindarajan Padmanaban,Pundi N. Rangarajan +4 more
TL;DR: Curcumin, a polyphenolic organic molecule derived from turmeric, inhibits chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum growth in culture in a dose dependent manner with an IC(50) of approximately 5 microM and may represent a novel treatment for malarial infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential protein expression profiling by iTRAQ-2DLC-MS/MS of lung cancer cells undergoing epithelial-mesenchymal transition reveals a migratory/invasive phenotype.
Venkateshwar G. Keshamouni,George Michailidis,Catherine S. Grasso,Shalini Anthwal,John R. Strahler,Angela K. Walker,Douglas A. Arenberg,Raju C. Reddy,Sudhakar Akulapalli,Victor J. Thannickal,Theodore J. Standiford,Philip C. Andrews,Gilbert S. Omenn +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that TGF-beta induced-EMT in human lung cancer cells (A549; adenocarcinoma cells) mediates tumor cell migration and invasion phenotypes, suggesting the acquisition of a invasive phenotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor- γ activation inhibits tumor progression in non-small-cell lung cancer
Venkateshwar G. Keshamouni,Raju C. Reddy,Douglas A. Arenberg,Binju Joel,Victor J. Thannickal,Gregory P. Kalemkerian,Theodore J. Standiford +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that activation of PPAR-γ impedes lung tumor progression and suggest that PPar-γ ligands may serve as potential therapeutic agents for NSCLC.
Journal ArticleDOI
PPAR-γ agonists inhibit profibrotic phenotypes in human lung fibroblasts and bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis
Jami E. Milam,Venkateshwar G. Keshamouni,Sem H. Phan,Biao Hu,Srinivasa R. Gangireddy,Cory M. Hogaboam,Theodore J. Standiford,Victor J. Thannickal,Raju C. Reddy +8 more
TL;DR: Pulmonary fibrosis is characterized by alterations in fibroblast phenotypes resulting in excessive extracellular matrix accumulation and anatomic remodeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemokine-Dependent Neutrophil Recruitment in a Murine Model of Legionella Pneumonia: Potential Role of Neutrophils as Immunoregulatory Cells
Kazuhiro Tateda,Thomas A. Moore,Michael W. Newstead,Wan C. Tsai,Xianying Zeng,Jane C. Deng,Gina H. Chen,Raju C. Reddy,Keizo Yamaguchi,Theodore J. Standiford +9 more
TL;DR: The increase in lethality without a change in early bacterial clearance suggested that neutrophils may exert their protective effect not through direct killing but through more immunomodulatory actions in L. pneumophila pneumonia, leading to high mortality in the setting of reduced neutrophil recruitment.
