Voids in a ΛCDM universe
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation and evolution of voids in the dark matter distribution using various simulations of the popular A cold dark matter cosmogony was studied, where voids were identified by requiring them to be regions of space with a mean overdensity of -0.8 or less -the equivalent of using a spherical overdensity group finder for haloes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The luminosity‐weighted or ‘marked’ correlation function
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the redshift-space luminosity-weighted or "marked" correlation function in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and compared it with a model in which the luminosity function and luminosity dependence of clustering are the same as that observed, and the form of luminosity weighted correlation function is entirely a consequence of the fact that massive halos populate dense regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Peculiar velocities of galaxies and clusters
Ravi K. Sheth,Antonaldo Diaferio +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple model for the shape of the distribution function of galaxy peculiar velocities is presented, where both non-linear and linear theory terms combine to produce a distribution which has an approximately Gaussian core with exponential wings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biasing and the distribution of dark matter haloes
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a model that allows one to quantify the evolution of the mean and scatter of the bias relation, in the initial Lagrangian, and the evolved, Eulerian, spaces.
