Journal ArticleDOI
Peptidomimetic Antibiotics Target Outer-Membrane Biogenesis in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Nityakalyani Srinivas,Peter Jetter,Bernhard J. Ueberbacher,Martina Werneburg,Katja Zerbe,Jessica Steinmann,Benjamin Van der Meijden,Francesca Bernardini,Alexander Lederer,Ricardo Augusto Dias,Pauline E. Misson,Heiko Henze,Jürg Zumbrunn,Frank Gombert,Daniel Obrecht,Peter Hunziker,Stefan Schauer,Urs Ziegler,Andres Käch,Leo Eberl,Kathrin Riedel,Steven J. Demarco,John A. Robinson +22 more
TL;DR: A family of peptidomimetic antibiotics based on the antimicrobial peptide protegrin I showed potent antimicrobial activity in a mouse septicemia infection model, and may have important therapeutic applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using a β‐Hairpin To Mimic an α‐Helix: Cyclic Peptidomimetic Inhibitors of the p53–HDM2 Protein–Protein Interaction
Rudi Fasan,Ricardo Augusto Dias,Kerstin Moehle,Oliver Zerbe,Jan Wim Vrijbloed,Daniel Obrecht,John A. Robinson +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown here how bhairpin PEMs based on a naturally occurring a-helical peptide can be designed as inhibitors of the p53–HDM2 interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of anti-Toxoplasma gondii and anti-Neospora caninum antibodies in ovine from São Paulo State, Brazil.
Letícia Pinto Coelho Figliuolo,Nobuko Kasai,Alessandra Mara Alves Ragozo,V.S.O. de Paula,Ricardo Augusto Dias,S. L. P Souza,Solange Maria Gennari +6 more
TL;DR: Serum samples from 597 sheep from Sao Paulo State, in the southeastern region of Brazil, were tested to determine the prevalence of antibodies directed against Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum using the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT), and an association between seroprevalence and age was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geographical distribution of Amblyomma cajennense (sensu lato) ticks (Parasitiformes: Ixodidae) in Brazil, with description of the nymph of A. cajennense (sensu stricto).
Thiago F. Martins,Amália Regina Mar Barbieri,Francisco B. Costa,Flavio A. Terassini,Luís Marcelo Aranha Camargo,Cassio Peterka,Richard de Campos Pacheco,Ricardo Augusto Dias,Pablo Henrique Nunes,Arlei Marcili,Alessandra Scofield,Artur Kanadani Campos,Mauricio Claudio Horta,Aline Gil Alves Guilloux,Hector R. Benatti,Diego Garcia Ramirez,Darci Moraes Barros-Battesti,Marcelo Bahia Labruna +17 more
TL;DR: Morphological examination of ticks in Brazil confirmed that A. cajennense (s.l.) is currently represented in Brazil by only one species, A. sculptum, while these species have distinct distribution areas in the country and are found in sympatry in some transition areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure-activity studies in a family of beta-hairpin protein epitope mimetic inhibitors of the p53-HDM2 protein-protein interaction.
Rudi Fasan,Ricardo Augusto Dias,Kerstin Moehle,Oliver Zerbe,Daniel Obrecht,Peer R. E. Mittl,Markus G. Grütter,John A. Robinson +7 more
TL;DR: Crystal structure of the inhibitor/HDM2 complex at 1.4 Å resolution confirms the β‐hairpin conformation of the bound ligand, and reveals that a significant component of the affinity increase arises through new aromatic/aromatic stacking interactions between side chains around the hairpin and groups on the surface of HDM2.
