Journal ArticleDOI

Structural characterization and immunological activity of pectin polysaccharide from kiwano (Cucumis metuliferus) peels.

TL;DR: Two novel polysaccharides from kiwano peels were isolated through hot-water extraction, followed by ethanol precipitation and column chromatography and confirmed that CMPP-1 and C MPP-2 were pectin with highly branched structure and possessed immune-enhancing activity and could enhance the secretion of nitric oxide and cytokines in a dose-dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploring the Emerging Role of the Gut Microbiota and Tumor Microenvironment in Cancer Immunotherapy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the impact of TME on cancer and immunotherapy through immune-related mechanisms and discuss the influence of the TME and its metabolites on the host immune system and the formation of the tumor microenvironment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure characterization of a novel polysaccharide from Chinese wild fruits (Passiflora foetida) and its immune-enhancing activity.

TL;DR: The results of immune-enhancing assays revealed that PFP1 could obviously promote the production of NO and secretion of cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6) of macrophage RAW264, demonstrating that P. foetida fruit polysaccharides can be utilized as a potential immune- enhancement functional food.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural characterization and immunostimulatory activity of a novel polysaccharide from green alga Caulerpa racemosa var peltata

TL;DR: The immunostimulatory assay revealed that CRVP-1 had significant effects on the proliferation of macrophage, production of NO and secretion of cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6), which provide a scientific basis for further utilization of polysaccharides from C. racemosa var peltata.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent progress on targeting ferroptosis for cancer therapy.

TL;DR: Ferroptosis is a new mode of cell death different from cell necrosis, autophagy, apoptosis, and pyropsosis, which depends on the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) caused by iron-mediated lipid peroxidation, exhibits cellular, molecular and gene-level characteristics distinct from other cell deaths as discussed by the authors.
