How Common are the Magellanic Clouds

TL;DR: In this article, a probabilistic approach to the problem of counting dwarf satellites around host galaxies in databases with limited redshift information was introduced. But the results of the analysis showed that the Milky Way has significantly more satellites than a typical galaxy of its luminosity, which is useful for understanding the larger cosmological context of our home galaxy.

A high throughput workflow environment for cosmological simulations

TL;DR: This work is using XSEDE resources to produce multiple synthetic sky surveys of galaxies and large-scale structure in support of science analysis for the Dark Energy Survey and is working to embed production control within the Apache Airavata workflow environment.
