Analytical authentication of organic products: an overview of markers
TL;DR: This review focuses on the most promising biomarkers/analytical approaches that are available for the authentication of organic produce and their potential for authentication is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Verification of fresh grass feeding, pasture grazing and organic farming by cows farm milk fatty acid profile.
Edoardo Capuano,Grishja van der Veer,Rita Boerrigter-Eenling,Anjo Elgersma,J. L. W. Rademaker,Adriana Sterian,Saskia M. van Ruth +6 more
TL;DR: The present study investigated the use of fatty acid (FA) profiling in combination with chemometric modelling to verify claims for cow milk in terms of fresh grass feeding, pasture grazing and organic/biodynamic farming.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of sunflower oil in extra virgin olive oil by fast differential scanning calorimetry
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the applicability of fast differential scanning calorimetry for the detection of sunflower oil (SFO) in EVOO and found that adding SFO to EVOO caused a rapid decrease in the coldest endothermic peak and can therefore be used in the detecting of adulteration of EVOO by SFO.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry and near infrared spectroscopy for the authentication of Brazilian coffee: A preliminary chemometric study
Pablo Inocêncio Monteiro,Jânio Sousa Santos,Vitor Rafael Alvarenga Brizola,Carolina Turnes Pasini Deolindo,Alex Koot,Rita Boerrigter-Eenling,Saskia M. van Ruth,Konstantia Georgouli,Anastasios Koidis,Daniel Granato +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for the authentication of geographical and farming system origins of Brazilian coffees.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty acid and triglycerides profiling of retail organic, conventional and pasture milk: Implications for health and authenticity
TL;DR: Differences in FA composition of retail full fat milk may have implications for consumers' health and may be used for the authentication of retail organic milk.
