Lattice strain causes non-radiative losses in halide perovskites
Timothy W. Jones,Anna Osherov,Mejd Alsari,Melany Sponseller,Benjamin C. Duck,Young-Kwang Jung,Charles Settens,Farnaz Niroui,Roberto Brenes,Camelia V. Stan,Yao Li,Yao Li,Mojtaba Abdi-Jalebi,Nobumichi Tamura,J. Emyr Macdonald,Manfred Burghammer,Richard H. Friend,Vladimir Bulovic,Aron Walsh,Aron Walsh,Gregory J. Wilson,Samuele Lilliu,Samuel D. Stranks,Samuel D. Stranks +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-scale investigation was conducted to reveal that lattice strain is directly associated with enhanced defect concentrations and non-radiative recombination in perovskite thin films.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metal Halide Perovskite Polycrystalline Films Exhibiting Properties of Single Crystals
Roberto Brenes,Dengyang Guo,Anna Osherov,Nakita K. Noel,Christopher Eames,Eline M. Hutter,Sandeep Pathak,Sandeep Pathak,Farnaz Niroui,Richard H. Friend,M. Saiful Islam,Henry J. Snaith,Vladimir Bulovic,Tom J. Savenije,Samuel D. Stranks,Samuel D. Stranks +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, a post-treatment of polycrystalline perovskite films with light and atmospheric treatments was shown to increase the internal luminescence quantum efficiencies from 1% to 89%, with carrier lifetime of 32 μ s and diffusion length of 77 μ m.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stable Light-Emitting Diodes Using Phase-Pure Ruddlesden-Popper Layered Perovskites.
Hsinhan Tsai,Hsinhan Tsai,Wanyi Nie,Jean-Christophe Blancon,Constantinos C. Stranks,Richard H. Friend,Mercouri G. Kanatzidis,Aditya D. Mohite +19 more
TL;DR: Efficient and stable LEDs processed from solution with tunable color enabled by using phase-pure 2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) halide perovskites with a formula (CH3 (CH2 )3 NH3 )2 (CH4 NH3)n-1 Pbn I3n+1 are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Impact of Atmosphere on the Local Luminescence Properties of Metal Halide Perovskite Grains.
TL;DR: In situ microphotoluminescence measurements are used to elucidate the impact of light-soaking individual methylammonium lead iodide grains in high-quality polycrystalline films while immersing them with different atmospheric environments, revealing a unique insight into the nature of nonradiative decay and the impactof atmospheric passivation on the microscale properties of perovskite films.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Impact of Phase Retention on the Structural and Optoelectronic Properties of Metal Halide Perovskites.
Anna Osherov,Eline M. Hutter,Krzysztof Galkowski,Krzysztof Galkowski,Roberto Brenes,Duncan K. Maude,Robin J. Nicholas,Paulina Plochocka,Vladimir Bulovic,Tom J. Savenije,Samuel D. Stranks +10 more
TL;DR: X-ray diffraction and micro-photoluminescence measurements are used to show that there is a coexistence of both tetragonal and orthorhombic phases through the low-temperature phase transition, and that cycling through this transition can lead to structural changes and enhanced optoelectronic properties.
