TL;DR: The ENA data warehouse is described, a resource for which the ENA content developments and major service enhancements in 2012 and two important areas of development and policy that are driven by ongoing growth in sequencing technologies are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Data curation + process curation=data integration + science
TL;DR: This article will brief the community on the current state of the art and the current challenges for process curation, both within and without the Life Sciences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identifying ELIXIR Core Data Resources
Christine Durinx,Jo McEntyre,Ron D. Appel,Rolf Apweiler,Mary Barlow,Niklas Blomberg,Charles E. Cook,Elisabeth Gasteiger,Jee-Hyub Kim,Rodrigo Lopez,Nicole Redaschi,Heinz Stockinger,Daniel Dinis Teixeira,Alfonso Valencia +13 more
TL;DR: This paper identifies key indicators which reflect the essence of the definition of an ELIXIR Core Data Resource and support the promotion of excellence in resource development and operation and explains their application within ELixIR's sustainability strategy and science policy actions, and in capacity building, life-cycle management and technical actions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improvements to services at the European Nucleotide Archive
Rasko Leinonen,Ruth Akhtar,Ewan Birney,James K. Bonfield,Lawrence Bower,Matthew Corbett,Ying Cheng,Fehmi Demiralp,Nadeem Faruque,Neil Goodgame,Richard Gibson,Gemma Hoad,Christopher I. Zerbino,Guy Cochrane +28 more
TL;DR: The content and scope of the European Nucleotide Archive is described, major improvements to the services are introduced and metadata formats for capillary and next-generation sequencing traces are introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
A tree-based conservation scoring method for short linear motifs in multiple alignments of protein sequences
TL;DR: The conservation score improves the prediction of linear motifs, by discarding those matches that are unlikely to be functional because they have not been conserved during the evolution of the protein sequences.
