Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal and neonatal outcomes by labor onset type and gestational age
Jennifer L. Bailit,Kimberly D. Gregory,Uma M. Reddy,Victor Hugo Gonzalez-Quintero,Judith U. Hibbard,Mildred Ramirez,D. Ware Branch,Ronald T. Burkman,Shoshana Haberman,Christos Hatjis,Matthew K. Hoffman,Michelle A. Kominiarek,Helain J. Landy,Lee A. Learman,James Troendle,Paul Van Veldhuisen,Isabelle Wilkins,Liping Sun,Jun Zhang +18 more
TL;DR: Elective induction may be associated with an increased hysterectomy risk but some neonatal outcomes improved until 39 weeks, and babies born with elective induction are associated with better Neonatal outcomes compared to spontaneous labor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Breast Cancer Risk and Hormone Receptor Status in Older Women by Parity, Age of First Birth, and Breastfeeding: A Case-Control Study
Sarah J. Lord,Leslie Bernstein,Leslie Bernstein,Karen A. Johnson,Kathleen E. Malone,Jill A. McDonald,Polly A. Marchbanks,Michael S. Simon,Brian L. Strom,Michael F. Press,Suzanne G. Folger,Ronald T. Burkman,Dennis Deapen,Robert Spirtas,Giske Ursin +14 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the effect of parity on a woman's long-term risk of breast cancer is modified by age at first full-term pregnancy and possibly by breastfeeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does antidepressant use attenuate the risk of a major depressive episode in pregnancy
Kimberly A. Yonkers,Nathan Gotman,Megan V. Smith,Ariadna Forray,Kathleen Belanger,Wendy L. Brunetto,Haiqun Lin,Ronald T. Burkman,Carolyn M. Zelop,Charles J. Lockwood +9 more
TL;DR: Failure to use or discontinuation of antidepressants in pregnancy did not have a strong effect on the development of a major depressive episode, and women with 4 or more depressive episodes before pregnancy were at high risk of a new episode, independent of antidepressant use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of four biomarkers to evaluate the risk of breast cancer subtypes in the women's contraceptive and reproductive experiences study.
Huiyan Ma,Yaping Wang,Jane Sullivan-Halley,Linda K. Weiss,Polly A. Marchbanks,Robert Spirtas,Giske Ursin,Ronald T. Burkman,Michael S. Simon,Kathleen E. Malone,Brian L. Strom,Jill A. McDonald,Michael F. Press,Leslie Bernstein +13 more
TL;DR: It is found that OC use was not associated with any breast cancer subtype as defined by ER/PR/HER2/p53 status, except for a 2.9-fold increased risk of so-called triple-negative tumors among women of 45 to 64 years of age who started OC use before age 18.
Journal ArticleDOI
Costs and net health effects of contraceptive methods
TL;DR: Every method of contraception dominates nonuse in most clinical settings, and increasing the use of more effective methods even modestly at the expense of less effective methods will improve health and reduce costs.
