Effect of Salt Substitution on Cardiovascular Events and Death.
Bruce Neal,Yangfeng Wu,Xiangxian Feng,Ruijuan Zhang,Yuhong Zhang,Jingpu Shi,Jianxin Zhang,Maoyi Tian,Liping Huang,Zhifang Li,Yan Yu,Yi Zhao,Bo Zhou,Jixin Sun,Yishu Liu,Xuejun Yin,Zhixin Hao,Jie Yu,Ka-Chun Li,Xinyi Zhang,Peifen Duan,Faxuan Wang,Bing Ma,Weiwei Shi,Gian Luca Di Tanna,Sandrine Stepien,Sana Shan,Sallie-Anne Pearson,Nicole Li,Lijing L. Yan,Darwin R. Labarthe,Paul Elliott +31 more
TL;DR: Among persons who had a history of stroke or were 60 years of age or older and had high blood pressure, the rates of stroke, major cardiovascular events, and death from any cause were lower with the salt substitute than with regular salt.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trigonella foenum graecum seed extract protects kidney function and morphology in diabetic rats via its antioxidant activity
TL;DR: It is concluded that TE confers protection against functional and morphologic injuries in the kidneys of diabetic rats by increasing activities of antioxidants and inhibiting accumulation of oxidized DNA in the kidney, suggesting a potential drug for the prevention and therapy of DN.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rationale, design, and baseline characteristics of the Salt Substitute and Stroke Study (SSaSS)—A large-scale cluster randomized controlled trial
Bruce Neal,Bruce Neal,Maoyi Tian,Nicole Li,Paul Elliott,Lijing L. Yan,Darwin R. Labarthe,Liping Huang,Xuejun Yin,Zhixin Hao,Sandrine Stepien,Jingpu Shi,Xiangxian Feng,Jianxin Zhang,Yuhong Zhang,Ruijuan Zhang,Yangfeng Wu +16 more
TL;DR: The SSaSS has been designed to test whether sodium reduction achieved with a salt substitute can reduce the risk of vascular disease and death and will provide important policy-relevant data.
Journal ArticleDOI
A large-scale cluster randomized trial to determine the effects of community-based dietary sodium reduction—the China Rural Health Initiative Sodium Reduction Study
Nicole Li,Lijing L. Yan,Lijing L. Yan,Wenyi Niu,Darwin R. Labarthe,Xiangxian Feng,Jingpu Shi,Jianxin Zhang,Ruijuan Zhang,Yuhong Zhang,Hongling Chu,Hongling Chu,Andrea Neiman,Michael M. Engelgau,Paul Elliott,Yangfeng Wu,Yangfeng Wu,Yangfeng Wu,Bruce Neal,Bruce Neal +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, a large-scale, cluster-randomized, trial done in five Northern Chinese provinces was conducted to identify a novel, scalable strategy for reduction of dietary sodium and control of blood pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two Novel Exopolysaccharides from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens C-1: Antioxidation and Effect on Oxidative Stress
TL;DR: Two odorless, water-soluble exopolysaccharide fractions, EPS-1 and EPS-2, isolated from a newly isolated Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain C-1 showed considerable potential to be used as medical compounds or functional additives.
