Journal ArticleDOI
The sulfhydryl groups responsible for bilitranslocase transport activity respond to the interaction of the carrier with bilirubin and functional analogues.
TL;DR: Both inactivation of sulfobromophthalein transport in rat liver plasma membrane vesicles by sulfhydryl group reagents and subsequent reactivation by 2-mercaptoethanol are shown to be modulated by ligands to bilitranslocase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Capsicum annuum var. grossum (Bell Pepper) Inhibits β-Secretase Activity and β-Amyloid1–40 Aggregation
TL;DR: Investigation of the effects of polyphenol-rich extracts from bell pepper on amyloid production and aggregation in vitro revealed that phenolic extracts from pepper fruits could counteract the initial aggregation of Aβ1-40, as well as prevent further aggregation preformed fibrils.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of Kidney and Liver Bilitranslocase in Response to Acute Biliary Obstruction
TL;DR: The higher renal expression and function of bilitranslocase in renal basolateral membranes from rats with obstructive cholestasis might also contribute to the dramatic increase in BSP renal excretion observed in this experimental model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenolic composition of orange peels and modulation of redox status and matrix metalloproteinase activities in primary (Caco-2) and metastatic (LoVo and LoVo/ADR) colon cancer cells
Ayokunle O. Ademosun,Ayokunle O. Ademosun,Ganiyu Oboh,Sabina Passamonti,Federica Tramer,Lovro Ziberna,Aline Augusti Boligon,Margareth Linde Athayde +7 more
TL;DR: It was shown that orange peels phenolic extracts exhibited cellular antioxidant activity and inhibited MMP activity in colon cancer cells, in a dose-dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Opinion on the re-evaluation of ascorbyl palmitate (E 304i) as a food additive in foods for infants below 16 weeks of age and the follow-up of its re-evaluation as a food additive for uses in foods for all population groups
Flavourings (Faf),Maged Younes,Gabriele Aquilina,Laurence Castle,Karl-Heinz Engel,Paul Fowler,Maria Jose Frutos Fernandez,Peter Fürst,Rainer Gürtler,Trine Husøy,Melania Manco,Wim Mennes,Peter Moldeus,Sabina Passamonti,Romina Shah,Ine Waalkens-Berendsen,Detlef Wölfle,Matthew Wright,Birgit Dusemund,Alicja Mortensen,Dominique Turck,Stefania Barmaz,Camilla Smeraldi,Alexandra Tard,Giorgia Vianello,Ana Rincón,Ursula Gundert-Remy +26 more
TL;DR: The Panel concluded that the intake of lecithins (E 322) as a food additive in infant formula belonging to FC 13.1.1 does not raise safety concerns up to the maximum permitted level (MPL), and it feasible to amend the EU specifications, in particular for the toxic elements arsenic, lead, mercury and introduce new specifications for cadmium and microbiological criteria.
