Energy-use pattern and carbon footprint of rain-fed watermelon production in Iran
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of energy input on rain-fed watermelon yield were evaluated using the Cobb-Douglas model and sensitivity analysis and the results showed that increasing one MJ of energy inputs of human labor, machinery, diesel fuel, chemical fertilizers, biocides, and seed changed the yield by 1.19, energy productivity was 1.15, energy intensity was 0.87, and net energy gain was 19680.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of analytic hierarchy process to develop a weighting scheme for life cycle assessment of agricultural production.
TL;DR: The results indicated that fossil resources depletion impact category was attributed the highest negative environmental impacts of tobacco production followed by terrestrial eutrophication, which implies many agricultural systems could benefit from using the developed weighting factors for LCA studies in the agricultural sector.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integration of life cycle assessment and Cobb-Douglas modeling for the environmental assessment of kiwifruit in Iran
Amin Nikkhah,Bagher Emadi,Hamzeh Soltanali,Saeed Firouzi,Kurt A. Rosentrater,Mohammad Sadegh Allahyari +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the environmental impacts of kiwifruit production in Guilan province of Iran using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology and Cobb-Douglas (CD) modeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy consumption and rice milling quality upon drying paddy with a newly-designed horizontal rotary dryer
TL;DR: In this paper, an industrial horizontal rotary dryer (IHRD) developed in northern Iran was investigated and compared with those of the conventional industrial batch-type bed dryer at five paddy final moisture levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Greenhouse gas emissions footprint of agricultural production in Guilan province of Iran
TL;DR: In this article, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions footprint associated with tea, peanut and kiwifruit production in Guilan province of Iran was studied, where data were collected using farmers' questionnaire in the 2012-2013 production years.
