Journal ArticleDOI
Wnt/beta-catenin signaling is an essential and direct driver of myelin gene expression and myelinogenesis.
Marcel Tawk,Joelle Makoukji,Martin Belle,Cosima Fonte,Amalia Trousson,Thomas A. Hawkins,Huiliang Li,Said Ghandour,Michael Schumacher,Charbel Massaad +9 more
TL;DR: Loss-of-function analyses in zebrafish embryos show a key role for Wnt/β-catenin signaling in the expression of myelin genes and in myelin sheath compaction, both in the peripheral and central nervous systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The androgen receptor as a therapeutic target for myelin repair in demyelinating diseases.
TL;DR: The recent finding that testosterone, via the intracellular androgen receptor, promotes myelin repair, may inspire neurobiologists to take a closer look at this hormone, and opens new therapeutic opportunities for androgens receptor ligands in the treatment of myelin disorders.
