Behavioural effects of ovariohysterectomy and oral administration of meloxicam in laboratory housed rabbits
Matthew C. Leach,Sandra Allweiler,Claire Richardson,John V. Roughan,Ruediger Narbe,Paul A. Flecknell +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that pain associated with ovariohysterectomy induced changes in the frequency and duration of a number of behaviours, including inactive pain behaviour, which was observed very infrequently prior to surgery compared to very frequently immediately following surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
The isoflurane-sparing and clinical effects of a constant rate infusion of remifentanil in dogs
TL;DR: Remifentanil infusion reduced the isoflurane concentration required for surgical anaesthesia during orthopaedic surgery and may be a useful additive to isof lurane anaesthesia in healthy dogs.
Journal ArticleDOI
The use of propofol and sevoflurane for surgical anaesthesia in New Zealand White rabbits
TL;DR: Propofol–sevoflurane anaesthesia produced a good quality of surgical anaesthesia for ovariohysterectomy and stable cardiopulmonary conditions and all animals recovered uneventfully.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrative veterinary medical education and consensus guidelines for an integrative veterinary medicine curriculum within veterinary colleges.
Mushtaq A. Memon,Justin Shmalberg,Henry S. Adair,Sandra Allweiler,J. N. Bryan,S. Cantwell,E. Carr,C. Chrisman,C. M. Egger,S. Greene,Kevin K. Haussler,B. Hershey,G.R. Holyoak,Matthew D. Johnson,S. Robertson,M. Sleeper,J. Van Dyke,Joseph J. Wakshlag +31 more
TL;DR: A proposed curriculum guideline would broadly introduce students to the objective evaluation of new veterinary treatments while increasing their preparation for responding to questions about IVM in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
How to Improve Anesthesia and Analgesia in Small Mammals
TL;DR: The routine use of cardiovascular and respiratory monitor devices is essential for a good outcome in small mammal anesthesia and the development of new pain assessment tools can help recognize and alleviate pain.
