Journal ArticleDOI
Liver HLA-G expression is associated with multiple clinical and histopathological forms of chronic hepatitis B virus infection.
Francisco José Dutra Souto,Janaina Cristiana de Oliveira Crispim,Sandro da Costa Ferreira,A. S. M. da Silva,Carmem Lucia Bassi,Christiane Pienna Soares,Sérgio Zucoloto,N. Rouas-Freiss,Philippe Moreau,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli,Eduardo Antônio Donadi +10 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that HLA‐G is expressed in most cases of chronic HBV infection in all stages and may play a role in the persistency ofHBV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors associated with spontaneous HBsAg clearance in chronic hepatitis B patients followed at a university hospital.
Sandro da Costa Ferreira,Silvana Gama Florencio Chachá,Fernanda Fernandes Souza,Andreza Correa Teixeira,Rodrigo de Carvalho Santana,Márcia Guimarães Villanova,Sérgio Zucoloto,Leandra Naira Zambelli Ramalho,Gleici da Silva Castro Perdona,Afonso Dinis Costa Passos,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli +10 more
TL;DR: Spontaneous HBsAg seroclearance occurred at rates compatible with low prevalence areas and was associated with low serum HBV-DNA levels and an age older than 40 years, which has a favorable long-term prognosis in patients with chronic HBV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 14bp-deletion allele in the HLA-G gene confers susceptibility to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma in the Brazilian population.
Andreza Correa Teixeira,Celso T. Mendes-Junior,F.F. Souza,Leonardo Arduino Marano,N. H. S. Deghaide,Sandro da Costa Ferreira,Enio David Mente,Ajith Kumar Sankarankutty,Jorge Elias-Junior,Orlando Castro-e-Silva,Eduardo Antônio Donadi,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli +11 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the 14bp-deletion allele in HLA-G gene is associated with HCC susceptibility in a Brazilian population.
Journal ArticleDOI
IL‐18, TNF, and IFN‐γ alleles and genotypes are associated with susceptibility to chronic hepatitis B infection and severity of liver injury
Sandro da Costa Ferreira,Silvana Gama Florencio Chachá,Silvana Gama Florencio Chachá,Fernanda Fernandes Souza,Andreza Correa Teixeira,Rodrigo de Carvalho Santana,N. H. S. Deghaide,Sandra Souza Rodrigues,Leonardo Arduino Marano,Celso T. Mendes-Junior,Sérgio Zucoloto,Eduardo Antônio Donadi,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that IL‐18 −137C/G, TNF‐308 G/A and IFNγ +874 A/T SNPs were associated to more severe liver injury in chronic HBV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of HBV subgenotypes in Ribeirão Preto, Southeastern Brazil: a region with history of intense Italian immigration
Silvana Gama Florencio Chachá,Silvana Gama Florencio Chachá,Michele Soares Gomes-Gouvêa,Fernanda de Mello Malta,Sandro da Costa Ferreira,Márcia Guimarães Villanova,Fernanda Fernandes Souza,Andreza Correa Teixeira,Afonso Dinis Costa Passos,João Renato Rebello Pinho,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli +10 more
TL;DR: The distribution of the HBV sequences obtained interweaved with sequences from other continents, corresponding to regions from where many immigrants came to this region, is determined, in accordance to the hypothesis that theHBV detected over there were brought during the colonization times.
