Journal ArticleDOI
Strong Sensitivity of Pine Island Ice-Shelf Melting to Climatic Variability
Pierre Dutrieux,Jan De Rydt,Adrian Jenkins,Paul R. Holland,Ho Kyung Ha,SangHoon Lee,Eric J. Steig,Qinghua Ding,E. Povl Abrahamsen,Michael Schröder +9 more
TL;DR: Observations and numerical modeling reveal large fluctuations in the ocean heat available in the adjacent bay and enhanced sensitivity of ice-shelf melting to water temperatures at intermediate depth, as a seabed ridge blocks the deepest and warmest waters from reaching the thickest ice.
Journal ArticleDOI
West Antarctic Ice Sheet retreat in the Amundsen Sea driven by decadal oceanic variability
Adrian Jenkins,Deborah R. Shoosmith,Pierre Dutrieux,S. S. Jacobs,Tae-Wan Kim,SangHoon Lee,Ho Kyung Ha,Sharon Stammerjohn +7 more
TL;DR: The authors used ocean temperature, salinity, dissolved-oxygen and current measurements taken from 2000 to 2016 near the Dotson Ice Shelf to determine temporal changes in net basal melting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antarctic Phytoplankton Assemblages in the Marginal Ice Zone of the Northwestern Weddell Sea
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the distribution, biomass and species composition of phytoplankton assemblages in the marginal ice zone (MIZ) of the northwestern Weddell Sea.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of a virtual reality treatment program for online gaming addiction
Sung-Yong Park,Sun Mi Kim,Sungwon Roh,Minah Soh,SangHoon Lee,Hyungjin Kim,Young Sik Lee,Doug Hyun Han +7 more
TL;DR: VRT seemed to reduce the severity of OGA, showing effects similar to CBT, and enhanced the balance of the cortico-striatal-limbic circuit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanisms driving variability in the ocean forcing of Pine Island Glacier.
Benjamin G. M. Webber,Karen J. Heywood,David P. Stevens,Pierre Dutrieux,Pierre Dutrieux,Pierre Dutrieux,E. Povl Abrahamsen,Adrian Jenkins,Stanley S. Jacobs,Ho Kyung Ha,SangHoon Lee,Tae-Wan Kim +11 more
TL;DR: There is considerable oceanic variability at seasonal and interannual timescales, including a pronounced cold period from October 2011 to May 2013, which can be largely explained by two processes: cumulative ocean surface heat fluxes and sea ice formation close to PIIS; and Interannual reversals in ocean currents and associated heat transport within Pine Island Bay.
