Abstract TP14: Simultaneous Endovenous Hypothermia and Intra-Arterial Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke is Safe, Feasible and Does Not Require General Anesthesia
Guillermo Linares,Kees H. Polderman,Lawrence R. Wechsler,Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez,Brian T. Jankowitz,Michael B. Horowitz,Vivek Y. Reddy,Maxim D. Hammer,Ashutosh P Jadhav,Ramesh Grandhi,Jennifer I. Oakley,Steven A. Koehler,Tudor G Jovin +12 more
TL;DR: Combined endovenous hypothermia and intra-arterial therapy for acute ischemic stroke is feasible and in non-intubated patients shivering is well controlled and does not necessitate deep sedation or paralytic agents.
Journal Article
Clinical Presentations, Venous Drainage Patterns, and Treatment Outcomes in Carotid Cavernous Fistula (P6.220)
David J. Altschul,Yamin Shwe,Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez,Srinivasan Paramasivam,Alejandro Berenstein,Johanna T Fifi +5 more
TL;DR: Clinical symptoms can be used to predict venous drainage pattern among patients with CCFs and is predictive of symptom resolution at follow up compared with conservative management, which is associated with improved clinical outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Race and Length of Stay Among Stroke Patients: The National US Emergency Departments Data Set
Karan Patel,Kamil Taneja,Jared Wolfe,Joseph V. Campellone,Mudassir Farooqui,Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez,James E. Siegler +6 more
TL;DR: In this article , a multivariable logistic regression was used to estimate the odds of prolonged length of hospital stay and inpatient charges among various race and ethnic groups, including income and insurance status, age, modified Charlson Comorbidity Index, vascular risk factors, and delivery of thrombolysis and thrombectomy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stroke Severity and Early Ischemic Changes Predict Infarct Growth Rate and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Large‐Vessel Occlusion
Darko Quispe-Orozco,Joel Sequeiros,Mudassir Farooqui,Cynthia Zevallos,Alan Mendez-Ruiz,Andres Dajles,Jessica Kobsa,Ayush Prasad,Nils H Petersen,Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score and ASPECTS at presentation could predict fast versus slow IGR in patients receiving endovascular therapy in patients who underwent successful thrombectomy.
Journal ArticleDOI
