Conducting in-depth interviews with and without voice recorders: a comparative analysis.
Rwamahe Rutakumwa,Joseph Mugisha,Sarah Bernays,Elizabeth Kabunga,Grace Tumwekwase,Martin Mbonye,Janet Seeley +6 more
TL;DR: Comparison shows that the data quality between audio-recorded transcripts and interview scripts written directly after the interview were comparable in the detail captured, suggesting that in some circumstances not recording is the best approach, not ‘second best’.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of a differentiated service delivery model on virological failure in adolescents with HIV in Zimbabwe (Zvandiri): a cluster-randomised controlled trial
Webster Mavhu,Nicola Willis,Juliet Mufuka,Sarah Bernays,Maureen Tshuma,Collin Mangenah,Hendramoorthy Maheswaran,Walter Mangezi,Tsitsi Apollo,Ricardo Araya,Helen A. Weiss,Frances M. Cowan +11 more

TL;DR: An international SONG-PD stakeholder consensus workshop was convened in May 2018 in Vancouver, Canada, and all stakeholders supported inclusion of PD-related infection, cardiovascular disease, mortality, technique survival, and life participation as the core outcome domains for PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parents who use drugs: accounting for damage and its limitation.
TL;DR: Analysis of audio-recorded depth qualitative interviews, conducted in south-east England between 2008 and 2009, with 29 parents who use drugs, finds that the interview accounts operate in response to a regulative norm of 'good parenting' in which one strives to deflect damaged identity through narratives of damage qualification and to seek understanding and acceptance through tales of recovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
“Life is so easy on ART, once you accept it”: Acceptance, denial and linkage to HIV care in Shiselweni, Swaziland
Shona Horter,Shona Horter,Zanele Thabede,Velibanti Dlamini,Sarah Bernays,Beverley Stringer,Sikhathele Mazibuko,Lenhle Dube,Barbara Rusch,Kiran Jobanputra +9 more
TL;DR: There is a need for individually tailored approaches to HTS, including the potential for counselling over multiple sessions if required, supporting status acceptance, and disclosure, to better support PLHIV to engage with HIV treatment and care following diagnosis.
