Syntheses, Structures, and Magnetic Properties of Diphenoxo-Bridged MIILnIII Complexes Derived from N,N‘-Ethylenebis(3-ethoxysalicylaldiimine) (M = Cu or Ni; Ln = Ce−Yb): Observation of Surprisingly Strong Exchange Interactions
TL;DR: The observations made here vindicate the proposition that, for most of the Cu(II)Ln(III) complexes, the exchange interactions are fairly strong, which probably could be related to the small dihedral angle between the CuO( 2) and LnO(2) planes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Syntheses, structures, and magnetic properties of mononuclear CuII and tetranuclear CuII3MII (M = Cu, Co, or Mn) compounds derived from N,N'-ethylenebis(3-ethoxysalicylaldimine): cocrystallization due to potential encapsulation of water.
Malabika Nayak,Rajesh Koner,Hsin-Huang Lin,Ulrich Flörke,Ho-Hsiang Wei,Sasankasekhar Mohanta +5 more
TL;DR: The cocrystallization observed in 2-4 is related to the tendency of a water molecule to be encapsulated in the vacant O4 compartment of the mononuclear [CuIIL1] species and the coordination geometry around the cobalt(II) and manganese( II) centers in 3 and 4 is intermediate between square pyramidal and trigonal bipyramidal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterobridged dinuclear, tetranuclear, dinuclear-based 1-d, and heptanuclear-based 1-D complexes of copper(II) derived from a dinucleating ligand: syntheses, structures, magnetochemistry, spectroscopy, and catecholase activity.
TL;DR: All the five copper(II) complexes exhibit overall antiferromagnetic interaction and bridging moieties and nuclearity have been almost retained in solution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Syntheses, Structures, and Magnetic Properties of Diphenoxo-Bridged CuIILnIII and NiII(Low-Spin)LnIII Compounds Derived from a Compartmental Ligand (Ln = Ce−Yb)
Arpita Jana,Samit Majumder,Luca M. Carrella,Malabika Nayak,Thomas Weyhermueller,Supriya Dutta,Dieter Schollmeyer,Eva Rentschler,Rajesh Koner,Sasankasekhar Mohanta +9 more
TL;DR: Syntheses, characterization, and magnetic properties of a series of diphenoxo-bridged discrete dinuclear M(II)Ln(III) complexes derived from the compartmental Schiff base ligand, H(2)L, obtained on condensation of 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde with trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two New Diphenoxo-Bridged Discrete Dinuclear CuIIGdIII Compounds with Cyclic Diimino Moieties: Syntheses, Structures, and Magnetic Properties
TL;DR: In this article, two Schiff base compartmental ligands derived from the condensation of 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde with 1,2-diaminocyclohexane and orthophenylenediamine, respectively, were used to isolate two diphenoxo-bridged discrete dinuclear Cu I I Gd I I I complexes.
