Quantifying Low Birth Weight, Preterm Birth and Small-for-Gestational-Age Effects of Malaria in Pregnancy: A Population Cohort Study
Marcus J. Rijken,Alysha M De Livera,Sue J. Lee,Sue J. Lee,Machteld E. Boel,Suthatsana Rungwilailaekhiri,Jacher Wiladphaingern,Moo Kho Paw,Mupawjay Pimanpanarak,Sasithon Pukrittayakamee,Julie A. Simpson,François Nosten,François Nosten,Rose McGready,Rose McGready +14 more
TL;DR: Treated malaria in pregnancy was associated with an increased risk for LBW, PTB, and SGA, of which the latter are most important for infant survival, consistent with previous publications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacokinetic Interactions between Primaquine and Pyronaridine-Artesunate in Healthy Adult Thai Subjects
Podjanee Jittamala,Sasithon Pukrittayakamee,Elizabeth A. Ashley,François Nosten,Borimas Hanboonkunupakarn,Sue J. Lee,Praiya Thana,Kalayanee Chairat,Daniel Blessborn,Salwaluk Panapipat,Nicholas J. White,Nicholas P. J. Day,Joel Tarning +12 more
TL;DR: Pyronaridine-artesunate is a newly introduced artemisinin-based combination treatment which may be deployed together with primaquine and its metabolite carboxyprimaquine, and pyronaridine were assessed using a noncompartmental approach followed by a bioequivalence evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulmonary oedema in vivax malaria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimating Gestational Age in Late Presenters to Antenatal Care in a Resource-Limited Setting on the Thai-Myanmar Border
Kerryn A. Moore,Julie A. Simpson,Kyla H Thomas,Marcus J. Rijken,Lisa J. White,Saw Lu Moo Dwell,Moo Kho Paw,Jacher Wiladphaingern,Sasithon Pukrittayakamee,François Nosten,Freya J. I. Fowkes,Rose McGready +11 more
TL;DR: The results of this study can be used to quantify biases associated with alternative methods for estimating gestational age in the absence of ultrasound crown-rump length to inform critical clinical judgements in this population, and as a point of reference elsewhere.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of oral artesunate and artemether antimalarial bioactivities in acute falciparum malaria
Yupin Suputtamongkol,Paul N. Newton,Paul N. Newton,Brian Angus,Paktiya Teja-Isavadharm,Duangsuda Keeratithakul,Maneerat Rasameesoraj,Sasithon Pukrittayakamee,Nicholas J. White,Nicholas J. White +9 more
TL;DR: The oral antimalarial bioavailability following artemether was significantly lower than that after artesunate, and in vivo parasite clearance and time above the in vitro IC90 were similar for the two drugs, despite considerable differences in Cmax and AUC.
