Leadership dynamics: a practical guide to effective relationships

Artificial Intelligence (AI) are a wide-ranging set of technologies that promise several advantages for organizations in terms off added business value. Over the past few years, organizations are increasingly turning to AI in order to gain business value following a deluge of data and a strong increase in computational capacity. Nevertheless, organizations are still struggling to adopt and leverage AI in their operations. The lack of a coherent understanding of how AI technologies create business value, and what type of business value is expected, therefore necessitates a holistic understanding. This study provides a systematic literature review that attempts to explain how organizations can leverage AI technologies in their operations and elucidate the value-generating mechanisms. Our analysis synthesizes the current literature and highlights: (1) the key enablers and inhibitors of AI adoption and use; (2) the typologies of AI use in the organizational setting; and (3) the first- and second-order effects of AI. The paper concludes with an identification of the gaps in the literature and develops a research agenda that identifies areas that need to be addressed by future studies.

Artificial Intelligence and Business Value: a Literature Review

This study explores the ways and means behind evolving ICT infrastructure’s direct or indirect effect on economic growth within a conceptual framework. Advances in digital technologies, their role, and significance in techno managerial ICT solutions are examined to provide a knowledge base for assessing capabilities, possibilities, and utilities to researchers, economists, policy and decision makers for optimal resources utilization, and stimulating economic growth. Besides contributing to the fields of information systems research and growth literature, few indicators are listed for consideration in economic analysis. This broadens vision for optimizing systems infrastructure, innovation activities, and helps establish their effects on growth. The study proposes that supporting policies in combination with adequate funds provision, stable government, macro-economic determinants, and innovation environment are crucial for ICT-induced prosperity. Additionally, countries need to promote e-commerce and e-governance activities with adequate RD facilitates ICT infrastructure requirement analysis, planning, and deployments with their socio-economic implications.

This study intends to find the industries that have leveraged Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology and elucidate the extent of the adoption of RPA in various industry domains with benefits. The identification of tasks eligible for RPA itself is a challenge. Therefore, the study further brings out the challenges faced in various industry verticals and postulates the future direction of research and applications in RPA.,The study focuses on articles from popular databases such as SCOPUS, Web of Science and Google scholar. PRISMA methodology is used for systematic literature review and 113 papers are shortlisted for study. Three questions are framed to carry out the review and set the research direction.,It is evident from this study that RPA has been widely used in banking and related areas with moderate use in healthcare and manufacturing leading to operational efficiency and productivity. However, there are a lot more opportunities in other domains that need to be taped by leveraging technology advancements and a research agenda has been devised by postulating future directions.,The study brings out a new comprehensive perspective as regards RPA implementation across domains. There is no promising study found that gathers three-dimensional aspects of the meta-themes applications, benefits and challenges. The study summarizes the research agenda and projects the industry domains that have not yet explored, the benefits of RPA. This will be a good reference article for those who develop RPA techniques and organizations that have plans to go for RPA.

Robotic process automation for industry: adoption status, benefits, challenges and research agenda

Technological innovations are changing the industrial landscape. As technology transforms the world, the HR function needs to focus on embracing automation and other technologies that promise efficiency, service effectiveness and cost savings. Deployment of robotic process automation (RPA) can help (a) to offer better service to employees and managers (b) ensure compliance of HR processes with standards and regulations (c) facilitate rapid initiation and completion of HR processes (d) enhance efficiencies by digitizing data and auditing process data (e) improve HR productivity and cost savings by automating manual and repetitive tasks. A robust and structured approach needs to be in place to identify HR processes that can be automated using the RPA approach. In this paper the authors (a) suggest a four step approach – validation, assessment, evaluation and classification - to analyze processes and verify their suitability for automation using RPA (b) identify HR processes that has relevance for the RPA approach within the broad areas of HR Strategy, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development & Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, HR Operations and Employee Relations (c) recommend a process for mapping HR RPA propensity. A case study is also presented for greater clarity on adoption of RPA in HR processes.

A structured approach to implementing Robotic Process Automation in HR

Different periods have been associated with different kinds of stress. In times gone by people were concerned primarily with survival-avoiding death by starvation, disease or violence. Though many of us are not subject to such kind of stressors these days, one is stressed nevertheless due to the faster pace of life. Stress comes from different areas of our life – work, family and social life. Small stressors from each or all of these adds up to a bigger one over a period of time. More often than not we fail to take notice of or acknowledge the stress we are experiencing, accepting it unquestioningly. We ignore the stress we experience despite the physical or mental symptoms of stress that our body throws at us. Instead of focusing on solutions for the symptoms or causes of our stress, we tend to turn a blind eye and make ourselves ever busier so we can continue as ‘normal’ and ‘achieve more’ in our lives.

The answer to managing this stress in our lives lies in practicing the technique of 'mindful living'. Through living mindfully, we can explore new and effective ways of taking control of our lives and enhancing our health and well being. When we practice “mindful living” we are living life moment by moment, thus becoming more aware of ourselves and the ‘here and now’. It is the act of bringing of attention into anything at the given moment. We step fully into the moment. Mindful living can change our life and help us make the world a better place to live.

Despite several studies on leadership, there still is no clear understanding of what leadership is and how it can be achieved. Traditional classification of leadership theories has been either on the basis of traits, behaviour or situation. The focus of these approaches has been primarily on the characteristics of the manager or the supervisor that make him or her effective in leadership situations. This typology of leadership does not specifically explain the influence of the follower characteristics or the leader relationship with the subordinate. LMX is one such leader relationship theory. It is not very clear as to where the LMX theory fits in the overall context of different leadership approaches. This paper discusses the LMX Theory in the context of the vast literature on Leadership, its evolution and practical utility for leadership development in organizations.
