Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular analysis of the pathophysiological binding of the platelet aggregation‐inducing factor podoplanin to the C‐type lectin‐like receptor CLEC‐2
Yukinari Kato,Mika K. Kaneko,Akiko Kunita,Hiromi Ito,Akihiko Kameyama,Satoshi Ogasawara,Nana Matsuura,Yasushi Hasegawa,Yasushi Hasegawa,Katsue Suzuki-Inoue,Osamu Inoue,Yukio Ozaki,Hisashi Narimatsu +12 more
TL;DR: The molecular interaction in vitro and in vivo between a platelet aggregation‐inducing factor, podoplanin, and its specific pathophysiological receptor on platelets, CLEC‐2 is clarified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crystal structures of the human adiponectin receptors
Hiroaki Tanabe,Yoshifumi Fujii,Miki Okada-Iwabu,Masato Iwabu,Masato Iwabu,Yoshihiro Nakamura,Toshiaki Hosaka,Kanna Motoyama,Mariko Ikeda,Motoaki Wakiyama,Takaho Terada,Noboru Ohsawa,Masakatsu Hato,Satoshi Ogasawara,Tomoya Hino,Takeshi Murata,So Iwata,Kunio Hirata,Yoshiaki Kawano,Masaki Yamamoto,Tomomi Kimura-Someya,Mikako Shirouzu,Toshimasa Yamauchi,Takashi Kadowaki,Shigeyuki Yokoyama +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, the crystal structures of human AdipoR1 and AdipOR2 were reported at 2.9 and 2.4 A resolution, respectively, which represent a novel class of receptor structure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of farnesylated CAAX protein processing by the intramembrane protease Rce1
Ioannis Manolaridis,Kiran Kulkarni,Kiran Kulkarni,Roger B. Dodd,Roger B. Dodd,Satoshi Ogasawara,Ziguo Zhang,Ganka Bineva,Nicola O’Reilly,Sarah Hanrahan,Andrew J. Thompson,Nora Cronin,So Iwata,So Iwata,David Barford +14 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the farnesyl lipid binds to a site at the opening of two transmembrane α-helices, which results in the scissile bond being positioned adjacent to a glutamate-activated nucleophilic water molecule.
Crystal structures of the human adiponectin receptors
Hiroaki Tanabe,Yoshifumi Fujii,Miki Iwabu-Okada,Masato Iwabu,Yoshihiro Nakamura,Toshiaki Hosaka,Kanna Motoyama,Mariko Ikeda,Motoaki Wakiyama,Takaho Terada,Noboru Ohsawa,Masakatsu Hato,Satoshi Ogasawara,Tomoya Hino,Takeshi Murata,So Iwata,Kunio Hirata,Yoshiaki Kawano,Masaki Yamamoto,Tomomi Someya,Mikako Shirouzu,Toshimasa Yamauchi,Takashi Kadoaki,Shigeyuki Yokoyama +23 more
TL;DR: The present information will facilitate the understanding of novel structure–function relationships and the development and optimization of AdipoR agonists for the treatment of obesity-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of anti-podoplanin monoclonal antibodies: critical epitopes for neutralizing the interaction between podoplanin and CLEC-2.
TL;DR: Using flow cytometric analysis, NZ-1 partially inhibited the interaction between podoplanin and CLEC-2, although other antibodies did not, which may lead to the development of therapeutic antibodies against Podoplanin-dependent cancer metastasis.
