Journal ArticleDOI

In Vitro and In Silico Inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus Efflux Pump NorA by α-Pinene and Limonene.

TL;DR: In this article, α-pinene and limonene were evaluated as EP inhibitors against a strain of Staphylococcus aureus expressing NorA protein, which carried genes encoding efflux proteins associated with antibiotic resistance to norfloxacin, was assessed through the broth microdilution method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhancement of the antibiotic activity by quercetin against Staphylococcus aureus efflux pumps

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the inhibitory effect of quercetin on S. aureus efflux pumps using the broth microdilution method, as well as the efflux pump inhibition assay through the method of reducing the antibiotic minimum inhibitory concentration.
Journal Article

Modulatory antimicrobial activity of Piper arboretum extracts (Zingiberaceae)

TL;DR: These natural products can be an interesting alternative not only to combat infectious diseases caused by bacteria or fungi, but also to combat enhanced resistance of microorganisms to antibiotic and antifungal drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cholecalciferol, Ergosterol, and Cholesterol Enhance the Antibiotic Activity of Drugs.

TL;DR: Cholecalciferol, when combined with aminoglycosides, was more effective against P. aeruginosa, reducing the concentration of amikacin and gentamicin necessary to inhibit bacterial growth and the effect was greater with higher subinhibitory concentration of sterol.
