Antiviral effect of polyphenol rich plant extracts on herpes simplex virus type 1
Sayed A. El-Toumy,Josline Y. Salib,Walaa A. El-Kashak,Christel Marty,Gilles Bedoux,Nathalie Bourgougnon +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the antiviral activity against Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1) was done on Vero cell lines by cell viability, and two plants extracts, namely, Euphorbia coopire (Euphorbiaceae) and Morus alba (Moraceae) showed potent anti-herpetic activity and six other extracts showed moderate inhibition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic effect of Acacia nilotica pods extract on streptozotocin induced diabetic nephropathy in rat.
TL;DR: The antioxidant and antihyperglycemic properties of Acacia nilotica extract may offer a potential therapeutic source for the treatment of diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polyphenols of Melaleuca quinquenervia leaves – pharmacological studies of grandinin
TL;DR: Grandinin (the major compound) showed radical scavenging properties by its reaction with 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, and reduced the elevated blood glucose level in STZ‐induced diabetic mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro anti-nitrosative, antioxidant, and cytotoxicity activities of plant flavonoids: a comparative study
TL;DR: The cytotoxicity results indicate that the investigated flavonoids are safe to be used up to a concentration of 100 μM and may be utilized as promising sources of therapeutics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical constituents and anti‐ulcerogenic potential of the scales of Cynara scolymus (artichoke) heads
Mahmoud I. Nassar,Tahia K. Mohamed,Abdelsamed I. Elshamy,Sayed A. El-Toumy,Azza M Abdel Lateef,Abdel Razik H. Farrag +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the head scales of artichoke possess potential anti-ulcer activity, and the high anti-ULcerogenic potential of scales of C. scolymus heads was established here for the first time.
