Diet of northern bottlenose whales inferred from fatty-acid and stable-isotope analyses of biopsy samples
TL;DR: Remote biopsy samples from free-ranging bottlenose whales off Nova Scotia and studies of this species' diet elsewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean have suggested specialization on the deep-sea squid Gonatus fabricii suggest that squid of the genus Gonatus may form a major part of the diet of bottlenosed whales in the Gully.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diving behaviour of the sperm whale, Physeter macrocephalus, off the Galapagos Islands
TL;DR: Sperm whales, Physeter macrocephalus, were tracked by means of a recording depth sounder in the waters off the Galapagos Islands, and usually started to make regular clicks when 150–300 m deep, which is approximately the depth of the oxygen minimum.
Journal ArticleDOI
A single-Pt-atom-on-Ru-nanoparticle electrocatalyst for CO-resilient methanol oxidation
Agus R. Poerwoprajitno,Lucy Gloag,John Watt,Soshan Cheong,Xin Tan,H. Lei,Hassan A. Tahini,Aaron Henson,Bijil Subhash,Nicholas M. Bedford,Benjamin K. Miller,Peter B. O’Mara,Tania M. Benedetti,D. L. Huber,Wenhua Zhang,Sean C. Smith,J. Justin Gooding,Wolfgang Schuhmann,Richard D. Tilley +18 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors demonstrate a process that grows and spreads Pt islands on Ru branched nanoparticles to create single-Pt-atom-on-Ru catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI
The diet of galápagos sperm whales physeter macrocephalus as indicated by fecal sample analysis
Sean C. Smith,Hal Whitehead +1 more
TL;DR: Analysis of lower beaks suggests that the sperm whales fed primarily on three genera of cephalopods; Histioteutbis (62%), Ancistrocbeirus (16%), and Octopoteut Bis (7%).
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulating Pt-O-Pt atomic clusters with isolated cobalt atoms for enhanced hydrogen evolution catalysis
Yufei Zhao,Priyanka Kumari,Xin Tan,Xinxin Lu,Xiaofeng Zhu,Junjie Jiang,Jian-qiang Pan,Shibo Xi,Hui Ying Yang,Zhipeng Ma,Tao Wan,Dewei Chu,Wenjie Jiang,Sean C. Smith,Rose Amal,Zhao Jun Han,Xunyu Lu +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a Pt atomic cluster (PtAC) containing Pt-O-Pt units was prepared using Co/N co-doped carbon (CoNC) as support.
