Axonal Degeneration Is Mediated by the Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore

TL;DR: This work shows that rapid axonal degeneration triggered by distinct mechanical and toxic insults is dependent on the activation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP), and suggests that the mPTP is a key effector of axonic degeneration, upon which several independent signaling pathways converge.
Journal ArticleDOI

A BAX/BAK and Cyclophilin D-Independent Intrinsic Apoptosis Pathway

TL;DR: The results suggest the existence of an alternative intrinsic apoptosis pathway emerging from a cross talk between the ER and the mitochondria, which did not require Cyclophilin D (CypD) expression, an important regulator of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore.

Null controllability from the exterior of a one-dimensional nonlocal heat equation

TL;DR: In this article, the null controllability problem from the exterior for the one dimensional heat equation on the interval $(0,1)$ associated with the fractional Laplace operator was considered.
