Non-physician clinicians in 47 sub-Saharan African countries. Commentary
TL;DR: Low training costs, reduced training duration, and success in rural placements suggest that NPCs could have substantial roles in the scale-up of health workforces in sub-Saharan African countries, including for the planned expansion of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programmes.
Journal ArticleDOI
E-learning in medical education in resource constrained low- and middle-income countries
Seble Frehywot,Yianna Vovides,Zohray Talib,Nadia Mikhail,Heather Ross,Hannah Wohltjen,Selam Bedada,Kristine Korhumel,A.K. Koumaré,James Scott +9 more
TL;DR: E-learning in medical education is a means to an end, rather than the end in itself and can result in greater educational opportunities for students while simultaneously enhancing faculty effectiveness and efficiency, but this potential of e-learning assumes a certain level of institutional readiness in human and infrastructural resources that is not always present in LMICs.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Findings from the study showed that countries are prioritising medical education scale-up as part of health-system strengthening, and many innovations in premedical preparation, team-based education, and creative use of scarce research support are identified.
