Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of right ventricular mass, volume, and function in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Serge A. van Wolferen,J.T. Marcus,Anco Boonstra,Koen M. Marques,Jean G.F. Bronzwaer,Marieke D. Spreeuwenberg,Pieter E. Postmus,Anton Vonk-Noordegraaf +7 more
TL;DR: The RV contains prognostic information in IPAH and a large RV volume, low SV, and a reduced LV volume are strong independent predictors of mortality and treatment failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Right coronary artery flow impairment in patients with pulmonary hypertension
Serge A. van Wolferen,J. Tim Marcus,Nico Westerhof,Marieke D. Spreeuwenberg,Koen M. Marques,Jean G.F. Bronzwaer,Ivo R. Henkens,C. Tji-Joong Gan,Anco Boonstra,Pieter E. Postmus,Anton Vonk-Noordegraaf +10 more
TL;DR: Although in controls, RCA flow is similar in systole and diastole, in PH there is systolic flow impediment, which is proportional to RV pressure and mass, and in patients with severe RV hypertrophy total mean flow is reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinically Significant Change in Stroke Volume in Pulmonary Hypertension
Serge A. van Wolferen,Mariëlle C. van de Veerdonk,Gert-Jan Mauritz,Wouter Jacobs,J. Tim Marcus,Koen M. Marques,Jean G.F. Bronzwaer,Martijn W. Heymans,Anco Boonstra,Pieter E. Postmus,Nico Westerhof,Anton Vonk Noordegraaf +11 more
TL;DR: Both methods showed that a 10-mL change in stroke volume during follow-up should be considered as clinically relevant, and can be used to interpret changes in Stroke volume during clinical follow- up in PH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relation of Resting Heart Rate to Prognosis in Patients With Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
Ivo R. Henkens,Serge A. van Wolferen,C. Tji-Joong Gan,Anco Boonstra,Cees A. Swenne,Jos W. R. Twisk,Otto Kamp,Ernst E. van der Wall,Martin J. Schalij,Anton Vonk-Noordegraaf,Hubert W. Vliegen +10 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, a higher HR at rest and an important increase inHR at rest during follow-up signify a considerable risk of death in patients with PAH.
Journal ArticleDOI
ECG monitoring of treatment response in pulmonary arterial hypertension patients.
Ivo R. Henkens,C. Tji-Joong Gan,Serge A. van Wolferen,Miki Hew,Anco Boonstra,Jos W. R. Twisk,Otto Kamp,Ernst E. van der Wall,Martin J. Schalij,Anton Vonk Noordegraaf,Hubert W. Vliegen +10 more
TL;DR: Routine ECG evaluation can be an important contribution in the assessment of treatment response in PAH patients.
