Journal ArticleDOI

Discotic liquid crystals: a new generation of organic semiconductors

TL;DR: This critical review covers various aspects of recent research on discotic liquid crystals, in particular, molecular design concepts, supramolecular structure, processing into ordered thin films and fabrication of electronic devices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of 4-aminoquinazolines by palladium-catalyzed intramolecular imidoylation of N-(2-bromoaryl)amidines.

TL;DR: Various substituents are tolerated on the amidine and the isocyanide, providing efficient access to a broad range of diversely substituted 4-aminoquinazolines of significant pharmaceutical interest.
Journal ArticleDOI

Iodide-Catalyzed Synthesis of Secondary Thiocarbamates from Isocyanides and Thiosulfonates

TL;DR: A new method for the synthesis of secondary thiocarbamates from readily available isocyanides and thiosulfonates with broad functional group tolerance is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Homeotropic and Planar Alignment of Discotic Liquid Crystals: The Role of the Columnar Mesophase

TL;DR: In this paper, a phase diagram of two metal-free phthalocyanine mesogens exhibiting different mesophases (Colr phase from room temperature to isotropization for the first one, and Colr at room temperature then Colh from around 60 °C to the isotropisation for the second one) was built and evidence of full solid-state miscibility of the two pure constituents in all proportions and temperatures is presented.
