The X-ray counterpart to the gravitational-wave event GW170817
Eleonora Troja,Eleonora Troja,Luigi Piro,H. van Eerten,Ryan Wollaeger,Myungshin Im,O. D. Fox,Nathaniel R. Butler,S. B. Cenko,S. B. Cenko,T. Sakamoto,Chris L. Fryer,Roberto Ricci,A. Y. Lien,A. Y. Lien,R. E. Ryan,Oleg Korobkin,Selyeong Lee,J. M. Burgess,William H. Lee,Alan M. Watson,Changsu Choi,Stefano Covino,P. D'Avanzo,Christopher J. Fontes,J. Becerra González,J. Becerra González,H. G. TL;DR: The detection of X-ray emission at a location coincident with the kilonova transient provides the missing observational link between short γ-ray bursts and gravitational waves from neutron-star mergers, and gives independent confirmation of the collimated nature of the γ,ray-burst emission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kmtnet: a network of 1.6 m wide-field optical telescopes installed at three southern observatories
Seung-Lee Kim,Chung-Uk Lee,Byeong-Gon Park,Dong-Jin Kim,Sang-Mok Cha,Yongseok Lee,Cheongho Han,Moo-Young Chun,In-Soo Yuk +8 more
TL;DR: The Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) as mentioned in this paper is a wide-field photometric system installed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI).
Journal ArticleDOI
THE sdB+M ECLIPSING SYSTEM HW VIRGINIS AND ITS CIRCUMBINARY PLANETS
Jae Woo Lee,Seung-Lee Kim,Chun-Hwey Kim,Robert H. Koch,Chung-Uk Lee,Ho-Il Kim,Jang-Ho Park,Jang-Ho Park +7 more
TL;DR: For the very short period subdwarf B eclipsing binary HW Vir, this article presented new CCD photometry made from 2000 through 2008, showing sharp eclipses and a striking reflection effect, were analyzed simultaneously with previously published radial velocity data.
Journal ArticleDOI
KIC 3858884: a hybrid δ Scuti pulsator in a highly eccentric eclipsing binary
Carla Maceroni,Holger Lehmann,R. da Silva,Josefina Montalbán,C.-U. Lee,H. Ak,H. Ak,Rohit Deshpande,Kadri Yakut,Jonas Debosscher,Zhao Guo,Seung-Lee Kim,Jae Woo Lee,John Southworth +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of eclipsing binaries containing non-radial pulsators is presented to combine two different and independent sources of information on the internal structure and evolutionary sta tus of the components, and the effects of tidal forces on pulsations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distance and Properties of NGC 4993 as the Host Galaxy of the Gravitational-wave Source GW170817
Myungshin Im,Yongmin Yoon,Seong-Kook Lee,Hyung Mok Lee,Joonho Kim,Chung-Uk Lee,Seung-Lee Kim,Eleonora Troja,Eleonora Troja,Changsu Choi,Gu Lim,Jongwan Ko,Hyunjin Shim +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the multi-wavelength data to characterize the host galaxy property and its distance to examine if the properties of NGC 4993 are consistent with this picture.
