Journal ArticleDOI
Differential activities of the two closely related withanolides, Withaferin A and Withanone: bioinformatics and experimental evidences.
Kirti Vaishnavi,Nishant Saxena,Nishant Saxena,Navjot Shah,Navjot Shah,Rumani Singh,Rumani Singh,Kavyashree Manjunath,Muthukumarasamy Uthayakumar,Shankar Prasad Kanaujia,Sunil C. Kaul,Kanagaraj Sekar,Renu Wadhwa +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Wi-A that binds strongly to the selected targets acts as a strong cytotoxic agent both for normal and cancer cells, and Wi-N, on the other hand, has a weak binding to the targets; it showed milder cytotoxicity towards cancer cells and was safe for normal cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of a calcium-binding site in the gamma-class carbonic anhydrase from Pyrococcus horikoshii.
Jeyaraman Jeyakanthan,Sarani Rangarajan,P. Mridula,Shankar Prasad Kanaujia,Yoshitsugu Shiro,Seiki Kuramitsu,Shigeyuki Yokoyama,Kanagaraj Sekar +7 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that Tyr159 (which corresponds to the catalytically important Asn202 in previously reported structures) utilizes C-H...pi interactions to fulfill its functions in carbonic anhydrases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning, expression, purification, crystallization and preliminary X-ray crystallographic study of DHNA synthetase from Geobacillus kaustophilus
Shankar Prasad Kanaujia,Chellamuthu Vasuki Ranjani,Jeyaraman Jeyakanthan,S. Baba,Chizu Kuroishi,Akio Ebihara,Akeo Shinkai,Seiki Kuramitsu,Yoshitsugu Shiro,Kanagaraj Sekar,Shigeyuki Yokoyama +10 more
TL;DR: Preliminary studies and molecular-replacement calculations reveal the presence of three monomers in the asymmetric unit of DHNA synthetase in Geobacillus kaustophilus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures of apo and GTP-bound molybdenum cofactor biosynthesis protein MoaC from Thermus thermophilus HB8
Shankar Prasad Kanaujia,Jeyaraman Jeyakanthan,Noriko Nakagawa,Sathyaramya Balasubramaniam,Akeo Shinkai,Seiki Kuramitsu,Shigeyuki Yokoyama,Kanagaraj Sekar +7 more
TL;DR: The biophysical, structural and molecular-dynamics results reveal the residues that are involved in substrate binding and help in speculating upon a possible mechanism of molybdenum cofactor biosynthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and functional role of water molecules in bovine pancreatic phospholipase A2: a data‐mining approach
TL;DR: The water molecules in 25 crystal structures of bovine pancreatic phospholipase A(2) have been analyzed and their possible roles are discussed, finding many other water molecules stabilize the structure, whilst a few have been found to maintain the active-site geometry and provide coordination to the functionally important calcium ion.
