Distribution of thermogenic activity in floral tissues of Nelumbo nucifera.
Nicole M. Grant,Nicole M. Grant,Rebecca A. Miller,Rebecca A. Miller,Rebecca A. Miller,Jennifer R. Watling,Sharon A. Robinson +6 more
TL;DR: Evidence is presented that the receptacle, stamens and petals produce heat independently, and that the source of heating in these tissues is most likely the alternative oxidase (AOX), which is consistent with AOX being the mechanism used for thermogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Facilitation, competition and parasitic facilitation amongst invasive and native liana seedlings and a native tree seedling
TL;DR: Investigation of interactions at the early stages of growth between native and invasive lianas with a common rainforest tree of temperate Australian rainforests under different light conditions shows that interactions early in the life of rainforest species can be complex mixtures of interactions which are likely to influence the ability of lianaas to dominateRainforests.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate change and extreme events are changing the biology of Polar Regions
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examine how the changing climate threatens these diverse marine and terrestrial habitats and the biodiversity that they support, and propose a VSI to examine the threats posed by climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Montreal Protocol, with its subsequent Amendments and Adjustments, was negotiated to control the consumption and production of anthropogenic ozonedepleting substances to stop and reversing ozone depletion and preventing its damaging effects.
