Risk of second primary cancer among patients with head and neck cancers: A pooled analysis of 13 cancer registries
Shu Chun Chuang,Shu Chun Chuang,Ghislaine Scelo,Jon Tonita,Sharon Tamaro,Jon G. Jonasson,Erich V. Kliewer,Kari Hemminki,Elisabete Weiderpass,Eero Pukkala,Elizabeth Tracey,Søren Friis,Vera Pompe-Kirn,David H. Brewster,Carmen Martos,Kee Seng Chia,Paolo Boffetta,Paul Brennan,Mia Hashibe +18 more
TL;DR: Excess second head and neck cancer risk was observed 10 years after diagnosis with lymphohaematopoietic cancers, and patterns were consistent with the notion that the pattern of cancer in survivors of head andneck cancer is dominated by the effect of tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking.
Journal ArticleDOI
Power-Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields and Risk of Childhood Leukemia in Canada
Mary L. McBride,Richard P. Gallagher,Gilles Thériault,Ben Armstrong,Sharon Tamaro,John J. Spinelli,Jan-Erik Deadman,S Fincham,D Robson,W. Choi +9 more
TL;DR: The results provide little support for a relation between power-frequency EMF exposure and risk of childhood leukemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Second Primary Cancer among Esophageal Cancer Patients: a Pooled Analysis of 13 Cancer Registries
Shu Chun Chuang,Shu Chun Chuang,Mia Hashibe,Ghislaine Scelo,David H. Brewster,Eero Pukkala,Søren Friis,Elizabeth Tracey,Elisabete Weiderpass,Kari Hemminki,Sharon Tamaro,Kee Seng Chia,Vera Pompe-Kirn,Erich V. Kliewer,Jon Tonita,Carmen Martos,Jon G. Jonasson,Carolyn M. Dresler,Paolo Boffetta,Paul Brennan +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a multicenter study of 13 population-based cancer registries in Europe, Australia, Canada, and Singapore was conducted to assess the risk of second primary cancers following a first primary esophageal cancer as well as the risk for esophages cancer as a second primary, following first primary cancers of other sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of childhood leukemia associated with parental smoking and alcohol consumption prior to conception and during pregnancy : the cross-Canada childhood leukemia study
Amy C. MacArthur,Mary L. McBride,Mary L. McBride,John J. Spinelli,John J. Spinelli,Sharon Tamaro,Richard P. Gallagher,Richard P. Gallagher,Gilles Thériault +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that maternal alcohol drinking before or during pregnancy may contribute to an increased risk of childhood leukemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Childhood Leukemia Associated with Vaccination, Infection, and Medication Use in Childhood The Cross-Canada Childhood Leukemia Study
Amy C. MacArthur,Mary L. McBride,John J. Spinelli,Sharon Tamaro,Richard P. Gallagher,Gilles Thériault +5 more
TL;DR: A role for early immunologic challenge in the expression of childhood leukemia is suggested, including childhood vaccinations, illness, medication use, and breastfeeding patterns, which are predicted to affect early immune functioning.
