Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of second primary cancer among patients with head and neck cancers: A pooled analysis of 13 cancer registries
Shu Chun Chuang,Shu Chun Chuang,Ghislaine Scelo,Jon Tonita,Sharon Tamaro,Jon G. Jonasson,Erich V. Kliewer,Kari Hemminki,Elisabete Weiderpass,Eero Pukkala,Elizabeth Tracey,Søren Friis,Vera Pompe-Kirn,David H. Brewster,Carmen Martos,Kee Seng Chia,Paolo Boffetta,Paul Brennan,Mia Hashibe +18 more
TL;DR: Excess second head and neck cancer risk was observed 10 years after diagnosis with lymphohaematopoietic cancers, and patterns were consistent with the notion that the pattern of cancer in survivors of head andneck cancer is dominated by the effect of tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human papillomavirus infection as a risk factor for anal and perianal skin cancer in a prospective study.
Tone Bjørge,Anders Engeland,Tapio Luostarinen,Jon Mork,Randi Elin Gislefoss,Egil Jellum,Pentti Koskela,Matti Lehtinen,Eero Pukkala,Steinar Thoresen,Joakim Dillner +10 more
TL;DR: Prospective epidemiological evidence of an association between infection with HPV 16 and 18 and anal and perianal skin cancer is provided and the highest risks were seen for HPV 16 seropositive patients above the age of 45 years at serum sampling and for patients with a lag time of less than 10 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strategies for the introduction of human papillomavirus vaccination: modelling the optimum age- and sex-specific pattern of vaccination in Finland
Katherine French,Ruanne V. Barnabas,Ruanne V. Barnabas,Matti Lehtinen,O Kontula,Eero Pukkala,Joakim Dillner,Geoffrey P. Garnett +7 more
TL;DR: Implementing catch-up vaccination at the start of a vaccination programme would increase the speed with which a decrease in HPV and cervical cancer incidence is observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Second primary malignancies in patients with male breast cancer.
Kari Hemminki,Ghislaine Scelo,Paolo Boffetta,Lene Mellemkjær,Elizabeth Tracey,Aage Andersen,David H. Brewster,Eero Pukkala,Mary L. McBride,Erich V. Kliewer,K. S. Chia,Vera Pompe-Kirn,Carmen Martos,Jon G. Jonasson,Xinjun Li,Paul Brennan +15 more
TL;DR: The risks for second discordant tumours after male breast cancer pose only a moderate excess risk, and an increase was found only after lymphohaematopoietic neoplasms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cancer risk of Lichen planus: A cohort study of 13,100 women in Finland.
TL;DR: The association between Lichen planus (LP) and cancer has been under debate for decades as discussed by the authors, and the connection via population-based Finnish register data has been studied via population data.
