Journal ArticleDOI
Tumour-derived exosomes as a signature of pancreatic cancer - liquid biopsies as indicators of tumour progression.
Zarin Nuzhat,Vyjayanthi Kinhal,Shayna Sharma,Gregory E. Rice,Gregory E. Rice,Virendra Joshi,Carlos Salomon,Carlos Salomon +7 more
TL;DR: Current knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer is discussed, particularly the potential role of EVs in these facets of disease management, and it is suggested that as exosomes contain cellular protein and RNA molecules in a cell type-specific manner, they may provide extensive information about the signature of the tumour and pancreatic cancers progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumor-derived exosomes in ovarian cancer - liquid biopsies for early detection and real-time monitoring of cancer progression.
Shayna Sharma,Felipe Zuñiga,Gregory E. Rice,Gregory E. Rice,Lewis Perrin,John D. Hooper,Carlos Salomon +6 more
TL;DR: Exosomes are membranous extracellular vesicles of approximately 100 nm in diameter that have potential to be used as biomarkers and therapeutic delivery tools for ovarian cancer and have potential as natural drug agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extracellular Vesicle Nanoarchitectonics for Novel Drug Delivery Applications.
Shayna Sharma,Mostafa Kamal Masud,Mostafa Kamal Masud,Mostafa Kamal Masud,Yusuf Valentino Kaneti,Prarthana V. Rewatkar,Aayushi Koradia,Shahriar A. Hossain,Yusuke Yamauchi,Yusuke Yamauchi,Amirali Popat,Carlos Salomon,Carlos Salomon +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the recent development of nanostructure amalgamated extracellular vesicles (EVs) for drug delivery, therapeutics, and real-time monitoring of disease progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
miRNa signature in small extracellular vesicles and their association with platinum resistance and cancer recurrence in ovarian cancer.
Mona Alharbi,Shayna Sharma,Dominic Guanzon,Andrew Lai,Felipe Zuñiga,Muhammad J. A. Shiddiky,Yusuke Yamauchi,Alexis Salas-Burgos,Yaowu He,Tanja Pejovic,Carmen Winters,Terry K. Morgan,Lewis Perrin,John D. Hooper,Carlos Salomon,Carlos Salomon +15 more
TL;DR: The effect of carboplatin in a heterogeneity population of OVCA cells and their derived sEVs is studied to identify mechanisms associated with chemoresistance and the levels of miR-891-5p within s EVs is significantly higher in patients at risk of ovarian cancer relapse.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNAs in ovarian cancer and recent advances in the development of microRNA-based biosensors.
Nahian Binte Aziz,Rabbee G. Mahmudunnabi,Muhammad Umer,Shayna Sharma,Abdur Rashid,Yahya Alhamhoom,Yoon-Bo Shim,Carlos Salomon,Carlos Salomon,Muhammad J. A. Shiddiky +9 more
TL;DR: An overview of the potential role of miRNAs in ovarian cancer, as well as recent advances in the development of nanotechnology-based, optical, and electrochemical biosensing-strategies for miRNA detection are provided.
