Nonlinearity-aware 200 Gbit/s DMT transmission for C-band short-reach optical interconnects with a single packaged electro-absorption modulated laser
Lu Zhang,Xuezhi Hong,Xiaodan Pang,Oskars Ozolins,Aleksejs Udalcovs,Richard Schatz,Changjian Guo,Junwei Zhang,Fredrik Nordwall,Klaus M. Engenhardt,Urban Westergren,Sergei Popov,Gunnar Jacobsen,Shilin Xiao,Weisheng Hu,Jiajia Chen +15 more
TL;DR: The nonlinearity-aware digital signal processing algorithm for channel equalization is mathematically described, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio up to 3.5 dB.
Journal ArticleDOI
Digital mobile fronthaul employing differential pulse code modulation with suppressed quantization noise.
Lu Zhang,Xiaodan Pang,Oskars Ozolins,Aleksejs Udalcovs,Richard Schatz,Urban Westergren,Gunnar Jacobsen,Sergei Popov,Lena Wosinska,Shilin Xiao,Weisheng Hu,Jiajia Chen +11 more
TL;DR: A differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) based digital mobile fronthaul architecture is proposed and experimentally demonstrated to support universal filtered multicarrier signal that is one candidate waveform for the 5th generation mobile systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectrally efficient digitized radio-over-fiber system with k-means clustering-based multidimensional quantization.
Lu Zhang,Xiaodan Pang,Oskars Ozolins,Aleksejs Udalcovs,Sergei Popov,Shilin Xiao,Weisheng Hu,Jiajia Chen +7 more
TL;DR: Compared with conventional pulse coding modulation-based D- RoF systems, the proposed D-RoF system improves the signal-to-noise-ratio up to ∼9 dB and greatly reduces the EVM, given the same number of quantization bits.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
726.7-Gb/s 1.5-μm Single-Mode VCSEL Discrete Multi-Tone Transmission over 2.5-km Multicore Fiber
J. Van Kerrebrouck,Lu Zhang,Rui Lin,Xiaodan Pang,Aleksejs Udalcovs,Oskars Ozolins,S. Spiga,Markus-Christian Amann,G. Van Steenberge,Lin Gan,Ming Tang,Songnian Fu,Richard Schatz,Sergei Popov,Deming Liu,W. Tong,Shilin Xiao,Guy Torfs,Jiajia Chen,Johan Bauwelinck,Xin Yin +20 more
TL;DR: A 107Gb/s net-rate DMT optical signal was generated using a single-mode long-wavelength VCSEL with a modulation bandwidth of 23 GHz and experimentally demonstrated a total net- rate up to 726.7Gb/S at 1.5μm over 2.5km 7-core dispersion-uncompensated MCF.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
K-means Clustering based Multi-Dimensional Quantization Scheme for Digital Mobile Fronthaul
TL;DR: This work proposes to group highly-correlated neighboring samples into multi-dimensional vectors and adopt k-means clustering for quantization in mobile fronthaul and experimentally demonstrated 30-Gbit/s transmissions for up to 40 100MHz LTE channels over 20km fiber.
