Efficient Approximation of Cross-Validation for Kernel Methods using Bouligand Influence Function

TL;DR: A novel strategy for approximating the cross-validation based on the Bouligand influence function (BIF), which only requires the solution of the algorithm once to be trained, and is sound and efficient.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meta-ELM: ELM with ELM hidden nodes

TL;DR: Theoretical analysis and experimental results on a few artificial and benchmark regression datasets show that the proposed Meta-ELM model is feasible and effective.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fast Cross-Validation for Kernel-Based Algorithms

TL;DR: A novel approximation theory of CVE is developed and an approximate approach to CV based on the Bouligand influence function (BIF) for kernel-based algorithms is presented, which requires training on the full data set only once and is suitable for a wide variety of kernel- based algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Granularity selection for cross-validation of SVM

TL;DR: This paper uses the Huber loss to smooth the hinge loss used in SVM, and derives a tight upper bound of the discrepancy between the original and the approximate CV with a high convergence rate, and presents a granularity selection criterion for trading off the accuracy and time cost.

Infinite Kernel Learning: Generalization Bounds and Algorithms.

TL;DR: A new kernel learning method is proposed based on a novel measure of generalization error, called principal eigenvalue proportion (PEP), which can learn the optimal kernel with sharp generalization bounds over the convex hull of a possibly infinite set of basic kernels.
