Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced resistance-welding hybrid joints of titanium alloy/thermoplastic composites using a carbon-nanotube lamina
TL;DR: In this paper, a carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced laminae was embedded into the interface of the welding region to enhance the strength of the hybrid joints of Ti -GF/PEI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flame-Synthesis of Carbon Nanotube Forests on Metal Mesh Structure: Dependence, Morphology, and Application
TL;DR: The MWCNT-decorated mesh was used as a novel heating element to weld glass-fabric-reinforced polyetherimide (GF/PEI) thermoplastics and it was found that the maximum tensile lap-shear strength (LSS) of the welded joints could reach 39.21 MPa, an increase of 41% in comparison with that of conventional SS mesh-based joints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of chemical etching of resistance wire surface on the strength and failure mechanism of the resistance‐welded joint of polyetherimide composites
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved mechanical properties of resistance welded joints of thermoplastic composites by versatile graphene oxide
TL;DR: An approach of adding graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets to enhance the joints for resistance welding glass fabric reinforced polyetherimide (GF/PEI) laminates was proposed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resistance welded composite joints strengthened by carbon fiber felt: mechanical properties, failure modes and mechanism
TL;DR: In this paper, a composite PEI films reinforced with carbon fiber felt (CFF) reinforced laminae was embedded into the interface of the welding region to enhance the strength of the joints of GF/PEI.
